Today Show --I Guess I Blew It

Post by normabuel »

I was standing in front at the Today show. EC was walking around talking to kids and signing autographs. I was about three feet away from him and decided I had better say something to him. But what?

I started to speak. When he realized I was speaking to him, he leaned in to hear me. Not knowing exactly what to say (it isn't like you can have a long talk), I told him I thought Indoor Fireworks with Emmy Lou and Larry Campell was beautiful. (It is, by the way.)

He said: "thanks, it was great fun doing it."

What would you have said to EC?

"Please bless my child, oh holy one!"

He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied

Most certainly. I was standing right behind EC when they shot Emmy Lou and him walking up to the stage -- he was pointing to the little girl's Ramones shirt. I was over his right shoulder in a maroon shirt and sunglasses.

He is touring & revisiting several cities. I would have asked if he was going to continue on this way until the end of the year & then record again or go out for even more dates. It seems he hasn't stopped in a couple of years.

I know what I should have asked: Why won't you play in Toronto?

They looked like a couple of old farts. I would have said something to slily imply that.

Bamboo, as an old fart myself, I think that would have been better off unsaid (at least by me). By the way, the people around me were pretty much amazed at how beautiful Emmy Lou looked. I agree, she looks great. Only her silver hair (which I like) gives away her age.

Billyboy, he sang Love Hurts. (See the thread on the Letteman show.)

Perhaps old-fartness is in the eye of the beholder... but it bothered me slightly to see Elvis put on that oh so sincere face and Emmylou standing there next to him like Joan Baez to Bob Dylan.

bboo. . .you are too cynical 8)
There is nothing insincere about these two old farts playing together. These shows have been pure magic, age of the performers not withstanding!
