I've been having trouble getting on this site from work, but it usually works from home. Nothing at the moment. JohnE, are you out there?

John E. posted on listserv that he was having ' server problems '; he's waiting on a response from them.

I haven't been able to get his site on my home computer for months , yet get it easily at a nearby 'net cafe.

Doc exchanged email with JohnE last night. He said that he thinks the web hosting company has been "having some issues." He has backups of everything, so don't fear. Doc offered him help in any way possible. JohnE hopes to have it all worked out soon.

This is one good justification for us hosting this site ourselves without a hosting company. No middle man. The other hosting company that used to host this site NEVER contacted us one - NOT ONE TIME - after we were hacked.

Hi all,

Yes, sorry about the problems with The Elvis Costello Home Page. It is quite wierd. The page seems to be up during the daytime (NZ time) and then down in the night time. This is not exact back a trend.

So I will try to upload stuff whenever I can and will update the What's New at the same time. So there may be several updates in a day, so look back over the past couple of day when you visit to see if something has been added since your last visit.

The web hosting people have not responded at all. I am still pursuing them!

Again, sorry for the problems.

It's been the same here in Dublin on my home machine, though I can access it from internet cafes. John's been informed of this. Maybe he should get his server people to do a bit of adjusting, or something.

Can those having a problem accessing my web site from a home computyer over several months, please tell me EXACTLY the URL they are trying to access. Please look this up in your browser settings, and don't just guess.

The main index page to use is:
http://www.elviscostello.info/index.php

index.html should re-direct to index.php though, so it SHOULD work but it may require some setting in your browser. Perhaps it is an OS/browser issue. Can you please specify these also, so we can look for any similarities.

Just got word from my web hosting provider that there is a problem with the DNS. That didn't take them long, did it?

I can't fix this here, but hope to be able to fix it tonight.

Not sure if this will fix the people who have been having long-term access problems, but it should fix the problem of the site not being available recently.

The problem that has been occurring intermittently over the past week should now be fixed, once the DNS entries have fully propagated. Please advise webmaster of any remaining problems.
