I love this! This is a classic album cover to go right along with some kick ass music from Elvis. This collection of songs is going to rock.

What it is

Post by A rope leash »

That's a Chevy pickup, circa 1970. Probably a C-10 Cheyenne.

Piece of crap. Known for rust.

Can't beat a 350 motor, though...

Could be a GMC of the same vintage, also.

This for once and for all confirms the awful truth we have all suspected for years": Elvis has only three fingers on his left hand!

Ergo the bond with Jerry Garcia.

Sorry, but it actually gets worse. In fact, it's a thumb, a finger, and a nub.

I guess I'm alone here in thinking the album cover is kind of tacky. :)
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

I think this is a very classic album cover in the style of the other EC (Eric Clapton) and Slowhand if memory serves. I am sure there are other LPs out there that use a similar motive. But we have to be somewhere in 15 minutes so can't do much more than post and run. :)

Bluechair -
I guess I'm alone here in thinking the album cover is kind of tacky.
Nope - I've already had e-mails describing it like this -

' And the cover is absolutely awful - like a service station
blues compilation. '

and

'Couldn't believe it when I saw it. It could be a Dire Straits album!'

Ha! It does have that Chevy look to it now, doesn't it....

Though hey, it could have been worse (Il Sogno?!)

As far as I'm concerned, nothing can beat the WIWC bees, baby!

Rope Leash - I owe you a big wet kiss. I've heard about that album cover for years and even though I look for it whenever I go into a used record store, I never saw a copy until now. Thanks!

Just right click on it, and it's yours!

If you ever do find that LP in a record store, you might be surprised at the price tag!

If the cover is the worst thing about the album, I'll be happy. Actually I think it fits in fine with the rest of the Lost Highway catalog. And as for the purple? Keep in mind that our boy has had a long history of downright garish artwork.

I think it's likely that is what he was going for.

Rope, it's amazing that you can identify the make and model of a truck by looking at part of the door and trim. And it's good to see you around again, by the way.

I like the purple. Guess I'm garish and gross.

The cover photo is brilliantly designed. The golden section falls exactly halfway between Elvis' forefinger and the rust stains on the side of the pickup. Don't know if this was intentional or not but all you art majors out there should appreciate this amazing "coincidence"!

By the way, those rust stains say it all!!
(Call me crazy!!!)
