Wednesday Week. EC's surf and turf special, frenetic first half, heart stopping shift to slow melancholia, his most complete musical statement.

(What's so funny 'bout) Peace, Love & Understanding.

When I read the question it was the first song that came into my head.

"Wednesday Week" is legendary. The best change of pace ever. It's a shame that song wasn't on Armed Forces, then re-recorded for his next six albums (a PTC version with horns would be wonderful).

That is a very unexpected answer. I think I've only listened to that song, in its entirety, twice. Once when I layed down and listened to the entire WIWC with the lyric booklet, and twice because I must have again.

WHAR...hmmm I would tend to agree with you there ...Daddy is not a tune that might drive me nuts, if I had to listen to it constantly or pay attention to it... It is however fun to jam it on guitar....It's got a little AC/DC flavor to it actually.

I also agree with your call on Episode of Blonde! I would try to memorize all the lyrics and sing it.....One of the songs that I cannot come close to playing and singing at the same time! grrrrrr

I think KH is relating to the original question and Daddy Can I Turn This?' relationship to that.

Think what the song Daddy Can I Turn This? is all about...

You're on a plane that's going down. You have ONE minute to pick ONE Costello song that will land on a desert island with you for THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

This is a stream of consciousness type of excercise. No analysis or intellectual activity is permitted. And no hedging, I want one song and one song only. If you take more than a minute and don't pick a song, you will end up with what your only accompanying survivor has picked... Hopelessly Devoted to You, which ain't all bad, by the way.

I know you can do it.
The clue's in the question

We'll elect you as leader when the plane goes down!
