Any Elton John fans?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Any Elton John fans?

Post by eltonsluv »

well i'm sure there are some people here who are also into Elton John like me, so i just wanted to share some good news. he recently came out with a cd called "remixed" and it's great! it's remixes of some of his songs and i really enjoy it. so if you're interested in this, here are a couple links to check it out.

Welcom eltonsluv. Its always nice to 'meet' someone who appreciates non-mainstream music.......you found us.

To be candid I prefer the earlier Elton stuff (Honky Chateau, Caribou, Elton John, etc.) than his newer 'top 40' stuff.

Yeah, I'm not a huge Elton fan but I enjoy the earlier material and his contributions to John Lennon's "Whatever Gets You Through The Night"

Hey- yeah I like his older stuff better too- so that's why I like this CD so much, it's his older stuff in the new ways, so it's like listening to a whole new song, but I'm guaranteed to like it! What do you guys mean, "They found us?" Is Elton stalking you?

For me it was after CAPTAIN FANTASTIC. That is a great record. Dated as all get out but still great. All EJ's records are period pieces, actually. I confess I know nearly every word of his whole catalogue up to that time. I think the last one I bought was ROCK OF THE WESTIES, a record I venture most of you never heard of...

What can I say, I was a sheltered suburban girl waiting around for the right eccentric and prolific English gap-toothed singer-songwriter with a five-letter first name that started with 'E'...

The only Elton John CD I have is Tumbleweed Connection

In my vinyl collection (aquired from my parents) are:

Elton John
Madman Across The Water
"Friends"
Don't Shoot Me I'm Only The Piano Player
Honky Chateau
Greatest Hits
Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy
Here And There

I don't listen to them often, but they all have some great tunes on them (except for "Friends", which I've never even really bothered to listen to)

I like his 1970`s stuff - little since has moved me.

Recently , however , I got a real curio by him. Back when he was just a jobbing musician he used to do demo. versions of songs for publishers. One such session was for Island , for a new signing of theirs called Nick Drake. Amazingly they aren`t too bad. The `Boot` I got features When The Day Is Done, Way To Blue and Time Has Told Me. The label also says Saturday Sun but it`s an entirely different song, one I cannot identify as being by Drake.

It`s worth seeking out.
