Best Elvis Album for An Allnighter

Post by Joe Porterhouse »

What in the opinion of this illustrious collective is the best EC album for pulling an allnighter? You know you are going to be up, what is the best album to get you thru the night? On the other side of it, what is an Elvis album you would put on to go to relax you and put you to sleep?I'm curious about your picks.Or perhaps certain EC songs that make you think about staying up all night.....

looks like someone lost last night's sleep.

my get thru the night album:either get happy or brutal youth(something upbeat that goes well with coffee)

get back to sleep album:north or ironically, punch the clock.

songs that could keep me from going to sleep-anything on armed forces-
or imperial bedroom.
-let me tell you about her-
hush now,I've said too much.......

I can't imagine falling asleep with the jagged sounds of My Aim Is True banging on my boombox...and surely North would set you up nicely to go up the stairs to Bedfordshire with hot water botty and ted tucked under an arm.

It's funny because I find his albums offer me different moods at different times. What album wakes me up one day might comfort and soothe me the next day.

I think BY is an energetic album though.

I find TJL helps calm me when I am stressed out.

And KOA is always my grounding stability. :)

Ahem - Joe, could you elaborate on that? The meaning might be a bit different in dear old Blighty.

Are you trying to spend a 'liaison' with a member of the opposite sex for some all night rumpy pumpy?

Or a dancing all nighter?

If it's the latter it's This Year's Model.
The sleepy CD would be North. Definitely tucking into bed with a cup of hot chocolate material.

"rumpy pumpy"? Verbal, is that the way you ask your new bride for an evening of pleasure?

For staying up all night - Blood and Chocolate. Sounds caffeine-fuelled. "Uncomplicated," "Tokyo Storm Warning." How could you go to sleep listening to either of those?

To sleep - North, without question.

'Ask'? Do you mean 'beg'? :?

I guarantee her an evening of pleasure every time I go out!

And anyway surely it's not only me that has to put a request in writing in triplicate suggesting dates for nights of romance is it? It is? No one told me about that when I signed the wedding register!

Apparently the boy I'm seeing now thinks that playing North is a secret code for "I want to have sex with you right now." He's right, of course, I just didn't think he'd figure it out so quickly.

Blood and Chocolate in my book is a good one for staying up all night.

If you want a cure for insomnia..the medical books now read...see Costello's North....

I'd go with Blood & Chocolate. You're bound to fall asleep during "Favourite Hour" while listening to Brutal Youth :D

Although if you're nodding off during "Still Too Soon To Know", you're bound to be shaken awake by "WHAT IS YOUR DESTINY, THE P'LICEWOMAN SAID! 20% Amnesia!"
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

yeah, but isn't the idea that you want something that would help keep you awake? :D

TYM would keep me awake, but i don't think i would be productive, just spastic.
BY could keep me up, if it were to be a night of tears.

Verbal-Allnighter's definition certainly could be referring to the old rumpy pumpy, as I believe you called it, or merely an all night caffeine, alcohol or misc. other social chemical of choice, creative bender.I'll leave it up to the minds of the collective.heh.heh.For my money, the soundtrack for staying up all night, would be either Brutal Youth or Get Happy!North or the Juliet Letters make for a tranquil atmosphere and sweet, albeit melancholy dreams.

BC: those albums do keep me awake.....even if they´re not so upbeat as other records.....slow music doesn´t have to be boring.....whenever i play this particular records it´s impossible for me not to get hooked on every word he sings, the way he sings them......it´s the best way to listen to a song......in the dark, soft lightning (maybe candle light) a glass of wine.....it could be a warm summer night or maybe a cold winter night.....whatever you prefer.......
