A great show, and wonderful musicians. Great to meet Mr & Mrs Top Balcony again, and the snappily dressed Jeremy D. I will have to try the EC diet to get into the T shirt I bought.

The new slimline Elvis looks occasionally like the EC of the early Attractions years!

Couldn't have asked for better seats Row A seats 27 and 28, you must have been right behind me.

Music was superb.

Got set list (eventually) after a nice lady snatched mine, a big thanks to one the stage hands for getting me another one.

Elvis was fantastic with fans outside, allowing photos and signing c.d's etc.

A truely enjoyable night.

OH MY GOD. What a night! Without a doubt the single greatest concert experience of my life - better than The Who, McCartney, Neil Young, Stevie Wonder.... He even played my request!
Right--that's what I thought when I saw them in April...Those Sugarcanes--Holy Shit! The level of musicianship is insane--absolutely beyond words...like you can't even believe it's happening. And they seem like a real band--much more than in 2009--really seem like they're having fun--and just blasting the fucking doors off the place. And also...I'd say the sound has evolved, too--somehow the music "fits" Elvis' songs better now than last year--less of a Bluegrassy "experiment" and more of a sound unto itself--perhaps a little more Rock and Roll-ish, but still very fresh and in the moment.
So I keep this fancy to myself
I keep my lipstick twisted tight

I thought that was staged, you handing him a piece of paper, did he really play that off the cuff?

The request was not staged. I was next to Jeremy when he told me about the request he was going to ask for. It was written on the back of the flyer for the EC guitar raffle!

Great to see Sulky, Colin, Misha, MooT, Mikeh and Mr+Mrs John last night.

My critical faculty always exits stage left when Elvis strides up to the mike, but I thought it was a fantastic show too. Perhaps he always pulls out the stops here but he did seem on top form, if anything his voice is improving with age. In a night of highlights my top three, in no particular order were probably Ship Building, Good Year and (so apt in this city) Red Cotton. Thought that the Sugarcanes were awesome and can't conceive of how they managed to sound so "hard edged" at times - eg Angels Wanna Wear. New songs sounded wonderful too - roll on the LP.

How cool is that to get your request played ? Well done JD.

Hope a recording of this one surfaces sometime soon via some clever microphones disguised as lapels.

Those trusty lapels strike again! At several points during the show I thought I'd died and gone to heaven.

This is a wonderful souvenier of an unforgettable night. just needs some artwork now to complete my joy, is there a Colin in the house? *

if the "artistic" Colin reads this...docinwestchester will be sending along a splendid pic of EC from 10-19-99; hoping it scans well enough for you to make the cover artwork. my brother NICK will be well pleased; especially if you credit photo as such: NICK. thanks for your efforts and hope you enjoy the recordings. best, benny

Hell no, it wasn't staged! I almost wrote out 'Pads, Paws and Claws' instead, but I figured I should go with one I knew the band had played before. I was so thrilled when they played it - I've been playing it on the acoustic ever since I got back home to Oz.

Howdeeeeeee Everybody!

The gig was fantastic, but our seats were somewhere near Birmingham. Heck, we might have been closer to the stage if we'd stayed in Carlisle.

Anywhoo.....fantastic night.

Met up with Nick for a lovely meal prior at the Everyman....and then it was drinks with the boys at A Fly in the Loaf.....which was very nice. :)

EC in fine form....and looking fit. Sugarcanes are fabulous.

One exception - I hate what he's done with EIWTB. He needs a smack upside the head for that. Ick.

Loved what they did with Mystery Dance.

Up in the balcony near the back it was freakin' sweltering. When we left I said it was a lot like seeing Elvis perform in a sauna and it smelled like a gymnasium. I was never so glad to get some fresh air.

Bought a ticket to win EC's guitar from Phil to support The Picket.

Fantastic!

:)

Oh....the 'artistic' Colin can't post on here....he's waiting for admin permission.

Ha, ha, ha!!!

Anywhoo - if you need to get him any messages, just tell me.....I know how to talk to the man. ;)

Thanks for the recording Sulky. Sorry I missed you - I was on the front row as well. The recording sounds great and the sound is even better than I remember it being on the night. The vocal harmonies come across much clearer.

It was great to download the show a couple of days after it had happened. The internet is a wonderful thing....I think of the money I have spent in record fairs on dodgy cassette bootlegs over the years!

Jeremy, where did you and members of the Sugarcanes go sightseeing in Liverpool?

Thanks Mike, also sorry I missed you - after the disasters of Oxford and Birmingham (only 6 songs from Oxford and just an hour of recording from Brum) I was getting paranoid and desperate to make sure I recorded the Sugarcanes OK and fortunately all 3 shows turned out fine. Hope to catch you on the next Imposters tour (about 2015 by my reckoning !!)
