Now I know what weekend to go. Anyone care to join me for some crawfish or alligator?

The daily schedule is out. Elvis on Thursday; Aretha and AT on Friday: Pearl Jam and Jeff Beck on Sat; and, finally on Sunday, Van, Richie Havens, and the Neville Bros.

Just bought my tickets for the 2nd weekend. Also bought a ticket to see Sonny Landreth at a small club on Friday night.

The schedules of whose playing where and when is out. The band leading up to EC & Sugarcanes is Steve Martin (yes, that Steve M) & Steep Canyon Rangers. I'm looking forward to seeing them too. They're are a few dilemmas on the schedules, most notably Pearl Jam vs. Jeff Beck

I'm leaving for the Big Easy on Wednesday. I wont be back home until Friday, but I'll post as soon as possible. It's raining down there, but that's not dampering anyone's spirit. I read on their chat board that Art Garfunkel's voice is shot and that Levon Helm's set was the highlight of the weekend.

I'll be there. Weather looks good. About 80 and no rain. Not so good for those going this weekend, though. Very excited about seeing my first EC & The Sugarcanes show, and my first time catching him at Jazz Fest. Should be a good one.

Looks like Elvis went hat shopping while in New Orleans. This is from Chef Scott Boswell's Twitter (http://twitter.com/ChefScottB)

"Saw Elvis Costello at Rubensteins today. He was shopping for a hat & I was looking for an extra large tuxedo. Looks like he found the hat :) 6:42 PM Apr 29th via Echofon from Fairgrounds, New Orleans"

He is talking about Rubensteins on the corner of St. Charles and Canal - http://www.rubensteinsneworleans.com/about/history.php.

Review from Offbeat magazine (http://www.offbeat.com/2010/05/04/102107/):

"With the Sugarcanes, it became clear that Elvis Costello can rearrange his music for almost any context. Give him a few weeks with Gogol Bordello and he’ll reframe his back catalog as Balkan folk songs. As Costello played string band versions of older songs, Dylan came to mind. Like Dylan, new arrangements opened up dimensions in the songs. “Every Day I Write the Book” went from a lightweight pop tune to something sadder. He added a coda to “Alison” that evoked infidelity when he sang, “Somewhere the king has no wife.” Despite the musical notes of gravity, the show had a pleasantly offhanded feel, as if the band was less a project than a way for Costello to get together with musicians he admired and play some covers he likes. The band included singer Jim Lauderdale and dobro master Jerry Douglas, and covers included “Mystery Train,” “Friend of the Devil,” “Don’t Lie to Me,” “The Race is On” and the Rolling Stones’ “Happy.” "

Got back from JF on Tues. You gotta go!! A blast. Saw many artist and when I have more time I will describe who and what I saw. Elvis was great and everyone else has written on the subject so what I have to add will just be redundant. Aretha didn't show up so a little band called Earth, Wind & Fire took her place. Steve Martin was funny (didn't overshow his banjo talent)...... "If I knew all of you were going to be here I would have practiced more" Here's his encore:

I'll put up photos when I can.
