Leaving the Purchase show tonight a little unsatisfied (needed more EC), I am sooooooo tempted to drive to AC tomorrow sans ticket and see a real rock 'n roll show.

Looking forward to this show tonight - but remember folks - it's at a cainso and they want people gambling so it likely won't be too long

If they do something like the Get Happy mini-set in last AC show on 12-31 it'll be worth it just for that!!

Just saw Elvis Costello at Caesar's in AC, Elvis said backstage the Casino limits his concert time - probably an hour less than normal

Looks like a cracker. And the Jazzmaster is in full force. That hat looks way too big on him since he lost all the weight.

Sorry the picture was blurry..taken with my phone...besides being short with annoying ushers it was excellent...we need more Imposter shows!!!....love the new song and "Hope You're Happy Now" ...I haven't heard that in awhile...he looked fit with a grayish suit, purple shirt and tie, and the hat...band seemed to be having a good time with Pete singing along with alot of the songs without a mic

Just back from AC, stayed overnight to keep the misses happy. I get to see Elvis, and she gambles.

Lights up - 10:24

I am beginning to feel old at these shows, even if I have been seeing Elvis since 1979. It’s too many times to count. The crowd seems old, which means I guess means I am getting old. But enough about me.

Previous posts about casino shows did prep me for a greatest hits / short show, so in that way I am not disappointed in the set list and length. Like most, I have heard, Chelsea, Alison, Pump it Up enough to last a lifetime. Some highlights:

- Accidents Will Happen – Watching Peter doing his thing, remembering back to John O’s interview with him last November.
- Radio Radio – Still trying to play this song in under 1 minute.
- Either Side Of The Same Town – it’s always a enjoyable to see how Elvis has learned to sign on stage (thank the Juliet letters for this). His handle of the highs and lows throughout the song are truly brilliant.
- Flutter & Wow – had not seen this song performed live, so a nice surprise. I don’t believe this appeared in last years ‘greatest hits’ set lists.
- Clown Strike – I don’t know how long they prepare ahead of these shows, especially given this show and last night’s Biloxi show are the only two Imposter shows on the early portion of this tour, but watching Pete, Steve and Davey trying to figure out where Elvis is going with his solo’s is enjoyable.
- Clubland – One of my favorite live songs.
- Slow Drag for Josephine – Always have enjoyed hearing new songs. Solo off mic, with Steve, Pete and Davey still on stage. Steve walked around during the song. Pete was just sitting at his kit. Davey seemed to be enjoying the song, watching on the video screens. The song itself almost seemed like it had children’s song melody to it. Couldn’t make out the words, so I am hoping recordings of some of these shows are available shortly.
- Sulphur to Sugarcane – Steve, Pete and Davey take ownership of a Sugarcane song; especially Steve two solo’s.
- I Hope Your Happy Now – Haven’t seen it preformed since Lincoln Center in 2004. Always enjoyable live.

Over highlights; Watching Davey play bass, and on this night, seemingly enjoying watching Elvis from one of the large screens that was viewable from the stage. And as always, watching Pete singing in the background. steve, missing his theramin tonight (no Bedlam, not needed)
One question for you guys. My wife is a big Law & Order fan, and a few years ago, Detective Green mentioned the Elvis plays a Rickenbacker. So naturally she asked me if he did last night. I have now idea. My guitar knowledge is nill. Does he and does anyone if he does plays on from the above set list
Well that’s it’s from me, now it’s back to lurkdom.

EC may have played a Rick at some point in his career, but it's never been one of his choice guitars. His acoustic of choice, at least these days, is a Gibson J-50 (seen earlier in this thread in photos), which he played on most of SP&S and is his main guitar for acoustic gigs. He has a signature Gibson Century of Progress that he played on the Bob Dylan tour - it's modeled after the one used to record the acoustic intro on 'I Want You'.
As for electrics, his main guitar of choice has been the Fender Jazzmaster, which is as closely identified with him as the Strat was with Jimi Hendrix. It has his name written along the neck and he's been using it since MAIT. That's this guitar here. Fender have produced a signature version of this guitar. He's also fond of various Fender Telecaster, mainly blonde ones (probably '52s), which he'll often play as his main gig guitar in place of the Jazzmaster. He's also taken to using a big bodied blonde Gibson number called the Super 400, which can be hear most prominently across 'The Delivery Man'. This is the axe he pulls out to play Watching the Detectives in his solo shows. Those are his main guitars.
So, to answer your question, EC's has never favoured Rickenbakers as his main guitars, nor did him play them at the Atlantic City show - he used his Jazzmaster and J-50, based on photographic evidence.

My pleasure, of course. And kudos to TaperAdvocat for a fantastic job on the United Palace show.
