I was called "sir" yesterday by an overweight parking lot attendant. I have resolved to wear the most feminine earrings I own every day for the rest of my life.

Re: Random Thoughts
Saw a glossy add today in Vanity Fair for a movie that will be opening on 9/18- "Bright Star" by Jane Campion-appears she has made a movie about the ill fated romance between the poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne-what caught my eye[beside the fact that someone would make a movie out of this material[I can only think of "Immortal Beloved" or that wretched film with Hugh Grant as Chopin traipsing along with George Sand] is the way it has been described as "the story of the original rock star, channeling male angst in a wholly original way that earned him an international reputation as one of the most creative minds of our time. His poems have influenced everything from rock to rap, art to film, prose to poetry slams and more, and they remain among the most widely read in English literature."-I have to laugh having recently finished Stanley Plumly's excellent study of Keats-"Posthumous Keats"-could not be farther from reality-this was a man who died ignomiously forgotten by the English poetry reading world-he even wanted his name obliterated as his stone has the epitaph "Here lies one whose name was writ in water"-rock star?- that he is now a revered poet is only due to the work of 20th century scholars-the only one who could bear such a comparison is Byron-Hollywood screws it up again.

I make a great Key Lime Pie. I like Coconut Pie, but no one else in the house likes coconut except for me.

Re: Random Thoughts
Last night's season opener of House was great. I usually don't watch the show, because each show is about a case that he needs to diagnose. In this episode he was the one being diagnosed.

House gave that little half-smirk at the end, like he was thinking he got away with something.
Great show.
Great show.

Got a good one from Dortmund, Germany. Can't help laughing at the punters calling out for Eton Rifles and chanting "we want The Jam, we want The Jam". They sound so fanboyish.
