So there are a lot of 'us' around the lower end of the twenties... we always knew we were the cool ones at school, just noone else realised it back then.

or is that just me :(

42 years old
did'nt feel old til my daughter turned a teenager.
i took her to her first concert last year . at the tabernacle. atlanta.

a very funny thing happened on the way to the concert.
(hope this is not too racy . but, then again, this is a story from my 13 year old so they know more than we want)
on the way she was telling me about this girl (and boy) who got suspended the week before for her giving him 'head' in a class room. this is middle school. 8th grade.
so i asked the obvious "this was in an empty class during school?"
"no' she replied,'in an actual class".
i was furious. this happened and the teacher did not know it til , as near as i ascertained, close to , uh, climax.
i ranted how that teacher should be canned and how idiotic the south carolina school system was.
i drove in silence for awhile and then it dawned on me so i asked...
"what does 'giving head' mean?"
she looked at me dead seriously and said' she was sucking his d***"
then she says, "i was wondering when you were gonna ask. i didn't think you knew what that meant"
and i blew up again' i don't know what it means??!!. we useta talk about getting head in the sixth grade."

i'm feeling older even thinking about it
oh, i useta be disgusted
now i try to be amused

LC, I discovered The Beatles my Junior year of high school, back in '97, which instantly made me a better person than all the other students, who didn't have a clue.

I, of course, bought all of their albums over the next 2 years. All of my friends made fun of me all the way up through 2000. Something must've clicked with them in 2001, and they realized how stupid they were, and how amazing the Beatels were. But by then I had discovered Elvis, and left them in the dust. Now they yell at me for listening to Elvis all of the time, and they've even adopted quite an anti-Elvis hate-sentiment. It's not good.

Does this mean anything to you?

It rings very true LTZ mate. Dont worry about the lack of EC appreciation, in a few years they'll all be loving 'the man' and taking the mickey out of you for listening to folk/blues/classical....and the cycle goes on.

Just be polite, and try not to laugh too hard when they buy then next Avril Lavigne 'album'.

Avril's not 'in' anymore, I don't think. She went out with her trucker hat.

Hmmm...

Nah, hubby would never go for that.

You never know until you ask! Have you asked????
Never, Cope.

My husband's an old fashioned guy who simply cannot STAND the fact that I even HAVE friends that are male...
As a matter of fact, he's halfway convinced that I'm having extramarital affairs w/ 2 people on this board...One in London, the other in Brussels!!

Needless to say, if he knew I had a BEST FRIEND that just happened to be a member of the opposite sex...

Well, I'd rather not speculate.

I was wondering about younger Elvis fans. I'm 35(you'd never know it), play in a bunch of bands and hangout with people in their mid 20's. He seems to be on the approved list for the cool indie kids to like. I think it's great that they like him I'm just surprised.
