Wake up you footy fans!!!

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Don't know whether to cry or laugh at that one! So you got a royal -6! Serves you right for not backing your boys. I was a little more in line with reality by not making Ronaldo default setting captain, though his 7 points were welcome, and wil probably exceed those of the person I conferred this dubious honour on: in a desperate bid to move up to my rightful higher spot, I bought and made Scotty Parker captain in the hope of the Hammers crushing Brom. Needless to say, he will probably not play or get a red card. Sold Geovanni at last after months of nothing, and the bastard goes and scores! Not my season.

Well, Sam, I hope it was better live and in person.

Cos it sucked horribly on tv.

We played like shit, but I had a great time anyway. Here is a bit of video we took at Fado's before the match.

That's me at the beginning sitting next to the wooden pillar and You Suck Corrales - part time Brooklyn cop, full time supporter. The older guy in the flat cap is brownswan. He's actually a playwright who retired to Florida last year but he made the trip out for this match.

Hoping for better things on Saturday.

The important thing, as always, is the story you can tell. Looks like fun, and to be fair, Seattle turned out big for it.

Former Poland goalkeeper Jan Tomaszewski believes the blunders by Celtic's Artur Boruc against Northern Ireland were a 'punishment from God' for starting a 'religious war' in Glasgow. (The Sun)

Jan Tomaszewski, as much as I will always love him for stopping Sir Alf Ramsey's boys from going to World Cup in 1974, has been mostly talking bollocks for the last 25 years. (and on top of that, it's a quote from The Sun .....)
Having said that, I must admit Artur Boruc's performance in Belfast was horrible, and he should focus on football, stop provoking Rangers' fans, and generally get his life together, because it does affect his goalkeeping abilities.

So. should Poland continue to pick the proddy provoking eccentric but experienced Boruc, the Arsenal reserve keeper, or someone else?

They should just play San Marino every time. 8-0 with 12 minutes left.

Arsenal reserve keeper looks like a good choice (though against San Marino I would probably do the same job).
Final result 10-0.
Unfortunately, results in Belfast and Prague do not bring us nearer the World Cup.

Somewhere, waaay back in this thread, I prognosticated that the Sven experiment would end in failure. 8)

Goal of the season, must be. Unbelievable genius and what timing. And he might just have kept the title where it belongs. Not yet on youtube but for sure will be tomorrow.

They played well, Essien stopped Gerrard and that was that.

Cracking goal by Adebayor on Tuesday

Manure looking dodgy. Despite their slightly lucky win against Villa (who everyone else has been thrashing anyway) they are looking more vulnerable than I can remember. I have never rated VDSar very highly - his run of clean sheets was a fluke - and he is being exposed now taht the defence is below full strength.

I was rooting for the reds, in honour of Elvis, etc. I was texting my Chelsea fan friend to wind him up - my thumbs were sore by the game's end! Maybe if Rafa hadn't taken Torres off ... ? (And if Lampard hadn't got that last one.) Fair dues to Chelsea, Hiddink made them do something amazing there - it really seemed as if Liverpool's current invincibility (apart from the first leg), coupled with their Champs League comeback abilities, meant that Chelsea's number was up at half time. Let's hope the same can happen tomorrow night in Porto...

Best sports day ever yesterday.

Chelsea beats Arsenal at Wembley.

Then beautiful weather at the Meadowlands as the Red Bulls win 2-0.

Dodgers win their 7th straight as Manny homers twice.

Yankees get humiliated 22-4 in their new stadium.
