Elvis Costello - Berlin 10.5.1999 preFM -complete show-
I'm not sure what this might be. I have a recording of this show that's pretty good, but it's audience. I get the feeling that the quality of this will easily trump the version I have....well I hope anyway. Anyway here's the info from the poster on DIME.

The 10th of May, 1999 saw the end of the European leg of the Lonely World Tour.
Despite the problems of the other German gigs (the Frankfurt show was cancelled
due to poor ticket sales), in Berlin Elvis and Steve managed to sell out a 1.100
capacity venue. The Grosse Sendesaal is a historical radio studio from the early
1930s, bringing back pictures from the time when music on the radio was actually
played live.
Elvis clearly loved the acoustics of the place. On a few occasions, he stepped
away from the microphone and sang straight to the audience. His voice carried
beautiful through the hall and the attendees obviously loved it. The Songs from
"Painted From Memory" formed the spine of this special night, complemented by
tunes from all decades of his career. As a special treat for the listeners Elvis
performed "Everyday I Write The Book" together with Ron Sexsmith in order to
celebrate the last night of their European tour.
A radio DJ summed up the night nicely by saying "There were quite a few local
musicians in the audience. Unlike the enthusiastic ordinary punters, they looked
rather depressed after the show as they slunk out of the venue into the warm
spring rain."
This gig ranges in the top 5 of all EC recordings I have listened to. Elvis and
Steve deliver a delicious setlist and a thrilling performance - all in crystal
clear sound.
It is a professional recording by Berlin radio station Radio 1, but it never was
broadcasted completely (there is only a hard-to-find bootleg called Necessary
Illusions around, which captures the 85 minutes which were aired by Radio 1).
Now you can listen to it in it«s entire beauty.

Yeah, that quote was rather bizarre. Were they upset because the great show had come to an end and it was back to their miserable lives? Upset because they realized that they themselves were truly horrible musicians relative to Elvis? Whatever, as long as the recording sounds as great as advertised!

All I can say is WOW! Get this if you can! It is similar to the Toronto '99 performance. Nonetheless, the exquisite sound quality makes this a must-have.
Also, I'm not sure if Elvis had ever picked up his harp before playing on American Without Tears ....but the duet with Ron Sexsmith on Everyday I Write The Book is the keeper from this show. Schweet schtuff!

Cherry on the cake or what? I'd skimmed through the impressive setlist quickly and missed the fact that Ron was duetting on it. Wow and more wow. Have downloaded and uploaded the whole shebang (it's a biggie!), and tomorrow will actually listen to it!

Have got as far as Temptation, and it's sounding superb. Voice and piano just perfect. What a treat. And a great setlist too. I experimented coverting from FLAC and importing into iTunes using both WAV and AIFF, to pick up on the MP3 discussion from the Brazil thread, and couldn't really tell the difference. At first I thought WAV was a bit brighter and clearer and maybe louder, but after repeated spot checks, I became less convinced! They're probably identical. Certainly the same file size. AIFF is native to Mac and WAV to Windows, is that all?
