Another Shot of Elvis and Me Pre-Bowery April 2002

Post by jillbeast »

Pretty funky photo of me in my funny sherbet colored t-shirt thingy and Elvis!! (Check out his outfit...and in 96 degrees Farenheit!) Got the photo shrunk down to a manageable size, otherwise you would've seen every little detail on my face!!

I love your Orange and Ruby cats! :)
Now what was this, a party with Elvis? How did this come about you lucky little wentch??
:D

Your picture w/EC was cute. I had to crop my shot of me and Elvis so just our heads are showing too. It's an awful picture, not only of me but of EC too. We've both looked much better. Oh well, just have to meet him again and get a BETTER picture taken w/him!
I can handle that!
I'm not angry anymore....

I'm a Beatles Tourist. I'll look for the picture of Me crossing Abbey Road and send it to someone to post.

Awesome pics, Pip!! And I TOTALLY understand the pink fur thing...we have a largely hispanic population here in Central Washington, and some of the things they do to "enhance their automotive experience" BLOW MY MIND!! (or, what little is left, thereof.)

***reminder to self: batteries for digital camera...***

Oh, got a COOL pic of a STOP sign down the street; unfortunately, light has yet to be sufficient enough for my cheap little digital, but, COMING SOON!!

Elvis' Private Concert

Post by jillbeast »

I guess this could be posted elsewhere on the board, but I'll hide it over here...I won a trip to see a "private" Elvis and the Imposters Concert (and John Mayer opened) in New York in support of WIWC last April (2002). It was amazing! I hadn't heard the album yet (it wasn't out yet) and then he played "My Little Blue Window" in the soundcheck and I heard it for the first time...it was wonderful and he didn't play it later that night! Yup, we got to go to the soundcheck too. Elvis was funny and he welcomed us warmly.

I had to call in every day when they played an Elvis song during the week to win that trip :!: I won the 17th trip out of twenty they gave away with the song "Girls Talk"...it was the second time I got through and I finally was caller 20!

We had a meet and greet with him at a bar near the Bowery Ballroom. I should have prepared myself better with something to engage him in conversation. It would have been a great time to chat with him about anything and make him feel like less of a freak and more of a person. He seemed so uncomfortable and it wasn't arranged well. However, I always get so distracted by not wanting to be greedy and take up all of his time so I said hello, and had him sign a photo, we took the photo, and let him go on. A lot of the people that were on the trip with me didn't even like Elvis, they just wanted to see New York post 9/11. They took up his time asking him stupid questions just to talk to the "celebrity" of whom they knew nothing! I wanted to drag this one lady away from him...she was so ridiculous and talking his ear off about nothing! He did sign the photo of me and him from the first time I "met" him (see my avatar photo) and he couldn't figure out why he was dressed so funny, he said "what is that I'm wearing?" but he was still wearing his costume from Steve Nieve's opera, so I told him that was from the opera...I hope he realized to which opera I was referring!

These photos come from BWAP. He introduces these fine gentlemen as Elvis and Merle. Elvis is, of course, in black. Merle looks like a lively one!

Image

And he informs me that this is Miss Landers. BWAP, is that you spying on her in the background?

And next I have a new photo from Costellopunk. He tells me he has been very, very busy lately. Hope to see you back in Tin Pan soon CPunk!

Well, I was lucky enough to finally meet one of my favorite board members this past weekend. Pip and I met up in Nashville for the afternoon and she even managed to survive a visit with my four kids. What a great person she is! :)

This is us on a park bench on the grounds of the Parthenon:

Well, oily was good enough to come up with this photo of Goody. Although I'm a bit suspicious after that first pic he sent of Mood that turned out to be Willie Nelson. :o

Anyway, oily says this is Goody:

Nice photos, WSS. Thanks for sharing them.

Well, I was on the road last week to Washington DC. My husband had a conference there and the kids were on fall break from school, so we all tagged along. Here is a picture of the kids outside the Smithsonian.

Image

I was also able to meet up with doubledutchess and my husband and I had dinner with her at a lovely little sidewalk cafe. Thanks DD for a fun evening!

Does Spain still have a king? I've wondered that for a while.

You have a beautiful country, King of Spain. I was there in January and enjoyed it a lot. Granted, I only saw Barcelona, and I'm sure there are other places which are much more beautiful.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.
