THIS YEARS MODEL PHOTO

Post by cludgy »

Just for the record, an ordinary shop bought poster of Marc Bolan went for £50 recently so why is nobody bothered with an ultra rare photo of Elvis?

I would put a scan of it in but then all that happens is it's printed off and therer's millions of the buggers

Would've thought there might be one or two collectors interested...

Who'll start the bidding :?:

Right everybody, the message written on the left side of Elvis is...........

Thanks for writing
Elvis busy in Paradise right now

My photo is B&W and Elvis is almost crouched down on top of the camera.

Then on the right side is Elvis' signature. All the writing is incorporated into the pic rather than on yhe pic

Slight crease on left hand bottom corner, not bad for 30 year old.

2 button badges are black on yellow background.

Elvis Costello.
This Year's Model.
Made in 1955
for 1984

Hope this helps folks :?:

Hi Cludgy and Otis seeing that your interested as well.

Haven't heard of such a pic with that message on so can't realy tell if it's valuable or not so might give it a miss but if anyone can find anything about this picture eithre from the internet or maybe the official website and tell me about it I would consider putting in a fresh bid for it.

If you could can you put a scan in of it so I know what I would be getting for the money.

Based on the description, this would probably be the cover photo for the old vinyl bootleg "Cornered on Plastic".

The photo can be seen at http://www.elviscostello.info/disc/bootlegs/copi.jpg

Hi Ulf,

That's the photo that I've got alright, the only difference is the photo I have has the radar logo etc in the top right hand corner but at last I've seen evidence that it exists in some form or other.

The photo | have is approx A4 size instead of a cassette(?) size.

Any more offers Andy?

You're having a laugh andy?

1st you offer £50 then £5? A trader up here offered me £20 but said try the net with some Elvis fans Because I'd probably get more for it, how wrong was he  ?

Any serious offers will be welcomed.

I've got that.
Here's the story behind it:

On the "lead out" vinyl of the initial UK pressing of TYM on Radar Records,
a message was scrawled in the blank vinyl that said something like:

Special pressing # xxxx
Call Moira at xxxxxxx for your prize.

(Something along those lines...)

That 8x10 picture, with the machine-generated inscription, is what came in the mail.
( And also a button, I think...)

Thanks Dr. Luthor for the information and you're the only other person thats mentioned having one.

So is it worth me bidding more money for it or is it a common item?

Andy
I'd be hesitant to say, one way or the other.
It's not super-rare, within the context that it's not actually "signed", and they weren't exactly unobtainable. (I got one by calling the London phone # from SF.)
Though, you probably don't see them often -- but, then again, I haven't been looking for it...

(I'm sure that this was a tremendous help to you...) :?

I give in folks.

Seems Elvis fans aren't die-hard collectors so I'm off to find sunnier climes 8)
