Yeah, The Hip are terrible, though luckily most people outside Canada aren't accosted by their songs on the radio 50000x times a day.

Elvis will never lose his british pride. He'll never be truly canadian. And besides, if the US's melting pot failed to melt Elvis why will Canada's melting pot work?!?!?!?!? I wouldn't want to see Elvis as a Canadian anyways, in a few more years I think he's going to return to Britain with Diana or without.

he can't 'return' to Britain in that he was living in Ireland before, and apparently New York a lot too. It's years since he was actually resident in Britain. Since the 80s, I guess.

Nice thread revival, Stag, and hello to you, by the way.

How about a Ron 'n' Elv duet LP to follow Sexsmith 'n' Kerr?

Hello, hello. Nice to be here. Can't believe it took me so long to find the place.

My sister used to work at the A&B Sound (record store) in Nanaimo (where Diana Krall's from). She went into work one day and was talking about EC - this was during the time I was banging on about EC all day & night & sending her tapes, etc. One of her co-workers said "Oh, that's who that was." Apparently he'd been in the store earlier in the day; none of the staff thought this a big deal - he's a washed-up old uncool singer-type-guy, so what's the big?

*yikes!*

I wouldn't think Elvis would ever identify as "Canadian" but we're pleased to have him 'round these parts. Although it doesn't seem to have increased the frequency of his Canadian shows any, has it?

Funny how comic book related things keep coming up as I return from a comic book convention. Must be in the air.

Never read "Cerebrus" but most people think about exactly what Staggerlee said. I HAVE read a few of the guy's anti-feminist tirades just for the heck of it.

It's not quite a Michael Moriarity meltdown (another Canadian...well, he moved there anyway and ran for office, so I guess that makes him Canadian) meltdown, but it sure lends itself to Freudian-type thinking.

Oh, and welcome aboard Staggerlee, but please don't take my life....
