Molde is an idyllic town on the west coast of Norway, and is referred to as the town of roses. The town has approximately 24.000 inhabitants and is the regional centre of the county of Møre and Romsdal. Molde is surrounded by mountains and fjords, and the region has a beautiful landscape. There are excellent opportunities for outdoor activities and sports in winter as well as in summer.

Molde has a wide cultural variety. Molde International Jazz Festival is arranged every year in July. World famous musicians meet and perform top quality music for an international audience. Another yearly event is the "Bjørnson Literature Festival". This festival takes place either in July or August. The regional theatre called "Teatret Vårt", is considered to be one of the best in Norway.

30 års-jubileum for Costello

Elvis Costello ankom Molde i god form i ettermiddag.

Tekst: TRYGVE LUNDEMO

From listserv-

http://www.adressa.no/kultur/festivaler ... 899391.ece

The article says:

I have a very strong and close relationship to the music of both Elvis
Costello and Steely Dan, so it was a real treat to be able to see them
on
the same stage this afternoon.
The clouds parted way for the sun just as Costello & Toussaint opened
their
set with "Wonder woman", before launching into "I don´t want to go to
Cjelsea".
Their solid band included a brass section that´s got a rare groove, and
when
Costello ended the regular part of their set with "Watching the
detectives"
and "Pump it up", he
delivered a strong request of being included in the MoldeJazz history
books !! (sic)

I came across this
very positive review of the Molde gig, with a photo of
Costello, that you can enlarge by clicking on it:

It says the final number, Pump It Up, was something
for the history books, etc. :^) Which seems to be
meant in a positive way, not as a sarcasm, or so.

And Costello's front page news once again - under the
headline Knallsuksess på Museet (Smash Success at the
Museum, or so):

Elvis Costello startet showet i Romsdalsmuseet i kveld. Avslutningen med «Pump It Up» var noe for historiebøkene, ifølge vår anmelder.
