The you-like-THAT-song-by-that-artist game

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

The you-like-THAT-song-by-that-artist game

Post by bambooneedle »

A new game designed to generate different songs in a different way, namely by having the artist picked first and then seeing what comes up. After a song is picked, so is the next artist for the next poster. If flow of the game becomes endangered because some artist is too obscure or appears to have no song that is special to anyone, we just pick a new artist or do what we have to do to justify a song choice - any excuse will do. Let's keep it going!!

Ok, to start I'll just pick an artist.

Love their version of Wrong Again, though if you consider the albums they recorded that were credited to either Edmunds or Lowe, I think What Looks The Best On You Is Me as their finest moment.

Next up:

Richard Marx

(Go on, he did do some some decent tunes)

OK, I'll risk ridicule and say 'Hazard', in the spirit of getting things rolling.

My Ever Changing Moods

Never was a big S.C. or Jam fan but I always enjoyed hearing this on the radio, back in the days I actually tuned in. Nice jaunty, swinging number that stood out from the dregs of "new wave" at the time of its release.

Perfectly Good Guitar

the Spice Girls...

(just so I can say that my youngest son, the Austinator, was - and possibly still is - absolutely fascinated by them when he was 4 or 5. He would watch their movie over and over and over - I'm sure it will come back to haunt him (or me!) later.)
Like me, the "g" is silent.

Pretty In Pink - yeah it's obvious I know, but it's a cute, song, enough for Elvis to cover it. I was really into them when they first came out, got the first LP, heard them on Peel, but nothing is lodged in my memory from it, really.

Heard this on a cruise ship this past January and vaguely remembered it. Nice melody.

7 Nation Army. Their finest tune, amazing riff, though my favourite version is a performance by The Flaming Lips at a festival when they were last minute rplacements for the Stripes.

Next up:

Foreigner.

-Midnight Blue doesn't count since it was a solo tune by Lou Gramm. btw, did anyone here the fairground version of that tune by Lou that popped up recently on Dime? Painful.
- Here's an excellent performance of Pretty In Pink by The National

I could never get into the Cocteau Twins though. Liz Frazer's warbling just irritated me.

I Can't Put my Finger on it - great lyrics:

You may have better plimpsoles
But you can't pee standing up."
