Pretty self-explanatory

Is VH1 Classic a separate channel? I turned on VH1 and there was some lame program about rock stars and the top 40 hot wives. It seems the program was targeting adolescent boys/wanna be rockstar types. There were lots of still shots of women with big boobs - and that was just the first 10 minutes. Not my kind of entertainment! Maybe I'll catch this program sometime, somewhere...

Yes, it's a seperate channel and if you're like me, you don't get it. I am in the process of badgering my neighbors, VHS(!) tape in hand. I am hoping that I will meet with success tonight!

ps - VH1 is pretty awful on the whole; the program you described is typical.

aww poor elvis, I guess he is getting kinda round
But there's plenty of overweight guys with beautiful girls.
Preacher was a talkin' there's a sermon he gave,
He said every man's conscience is vile and depraved,
You cannot depend on it to be your guide
When it's you who must keep it satisfied

I don't mind asking again - does anyone know if this will be shown in the UK?

Thanks in advance!

On UTV3 at, probably, 3AM some Tuesday morning ,with a one line entry in the TV listing, not detailing artists featured.

Finally caught this last night and enjoyed it very much. The stuff with Fiona was the best. The pairing with Billie Joe felt a little forced and awkward and EC clearly didn't know that set of Green Day songs nearly as well as he clearly rehearsed the Fiona song he sang. Still, a fun show with a decent interview interspersed throughout.

The most amazing thing about the special is what a great backing band Elvis and the Imposters are.

I could see Fiona Apple and Billie Joe Armstrong really enjoying playing with such a great, versatile band.

Elvis also really shines as a rhythm guitarist

A DVD of this finally reached me (thanks Herb!) the other day and I've just sat through it. The most interesting parts were Elvis' performances of the other artist’s songs, especially Death Cabs' I Will Follow You Into The Dark, Elvis feeling the need to preface it with a apology to ' Sister Mary Cecelia ' for the Catholic reference in it. Elvis and The Impostors take on Fiona Apple's Tymps was interesting in that Steve'n Pete seemed to have really worked out a intricate arrangement for it. I don't know the original so can't say if it improves on it or merely replicates it. Billy Joe seemed a little distant, not surprising since , in one of the interspersed 'group discussion' segments (disjointed, heavily edited, mind bendingly lightweight in content), he mentions having been up 'til 2 the previous night trying to figure out Elvis' lyrics. The Alison performance is atrocious. Elvis grins inanely throughout it giving away, perhaps, his misgiving at the fact that the song just is not suited to a duet presentation.

Seeing the I Want You performance on a proper tv screen ( as opposed to wobbly computer versions from Youtube) reveals some previously missed aspects . Elvis' n The Imps studiously blank faced reaction to her emotive delivery could be put down to concentration on instrument playing. Maybe they thought it would allow the audience focus on Ms Apple. A simple lighting decision to dim all except a spot on her would have been just as effective but would, I suppose, have been out of step with the garish presentation. Similarly it could be that they were focusing on not cracking up. At the end you can see Elvis, Steve 'n Pete all looking at Fiona, wondering if she'll go the whole hog and give the song's refrain yet another go. She doesn't and they finish, blank faces even blanker.

The excessive use of back-projected images and the sweeping camera angles are, I suppose, standard features of this kind of show but were tiring and reminded me why I don't watch much music on tv. No Action is particularly blighted by it.

All in all, an interesting presentation but, format-wise , just not my cup of tea.

Elvis sings fiona apple's I KNOW

Post by moonagedaydream »

Does anyone know where I can find an mp3 of Elvis performing Fiona Apple's I Know on the Decades of Rock Live. It was amazing! I find it on youtube and I've been watching it over and over, but I'd really love to have an mp3. It's pretty much my favorite song and Elvis made me love it more.
