Of interest to the readers of the thread setting out the recent Chicago gig is a new torrent on Dime:

Lindisfarne
Christmas Concert
Newcastle City Hall
Newcastle upon Tyne UK
23rd December 1976
Radio Broadcast
Artwork Included.

It doesn't get any better than this, for atmosphere you can't beat the
City Hall for a gig, better still when its a local band reforming and a three
day sell out. I can remember walking past the City Hall at the time and a huge banner was above the front doors saying.... Lindisfarne Occupation.
I caught a show the following year and it is one of my top 5 gigs.
What are you waiting for? Pull a cracker, put on your party hat and sing
along with 2,500 friends.

Edited out a couple of commercials (one was for an 8 track)
A bit of silence, and did a couple of fades. Track One (Intro) goes
a bit wow and flutter, but nothing too drastic.

A Brief History.
The group first burst on to the scene in 1969 with a line-up that included frontman Alan Hull, guitarist Simon Cowe, Rod Clements on bass, vocalist and harmonica player Ray Jackson and drummer Ray Laidlaw.

They split in half in 1973. Ray Laidlaw, Simon Cowe and Rod Clements formed Jack The Lad while Alan Hull and Ray Jackson recruited new members for what became known as Lindisfarne Mark II.

But in 1976, the original Lindisfarne took to the City Hall stage again for a "one-off" Christmas concert. The festive shows proved so popular they became a traditional fixture until 1993.

Ray Laidlaw said: "It was like we had never been away. We just had a couple of hours' rehearsals and we were ready for three sell-out shows. It was fantastic."

The compliments of the season to you all.
