The good folks at Easy Tree are at it again:
A new torrent has been uploaded.

Title: Elvis Costello 1-7-82 Royal Albert Hall
Size: 496.25 MB
Category: Rock
Uploaded by: als

Description
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Elvis Costello and the Attractions
January 7, 1982
Royal Albert Hall, London, England

First Set
(with John McFee)
1. Steve Nieve Introduction / Big Tears
2. Strict Time
3. Secondary Modern
4. Green Shirt
5. Kid About It
6. Watch Your Step
7. Shabby Doll
8. Almost Blue
9. Success
10. Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down
11. Colour Of The Blues
12. How Much I Lied
13. The Long Honeymoon
14. Clowntime Is Over
15. Big Sister’s Clothes

Source: audience tape > unknown > EAC > Sound Forge 6.0 > CD Wave >
flac/cd-da

Sound quality: Not good although serious Elvis traders will find it
listenable
(mostly because it is the only known recording of a famous show and the
performance and
set list are excellent). I did what I could to improve the sound
quality and it does
improve after the first few songs.

Second Set
(with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and John McFee)
1. Shot With His Own Gun
2. Accidents Will Happen
3. Sweet Dreams
4. Just A Memory
5. Too Far Gone
6. I Can’t Stand Up (For Falling Down)
7. Watching The Detectives
8. New Lace Sleeves
9. Brown To Blue
10. Town Cryer
11. Alison
12. Good Year For The Roses
13. I’m Your Toy
14. (What’s So Funny ‘Bout) Peace, Love And Understanding?

Source: Source A + B > EAC > Sound Forge 6.0 > CD Wave > flac/cd-da
Source A: Previously uncirculated soundboard
Source B (patch for beginning of "New Lace Sleeves"): Previously
circulated soundboard with
significant digi-noise (a clean copy of this version does not exist)

Sound quality: Very good soundboard.

Comments: This legendary concert has always been a legendary source of
frustration for
Costello traders. The previously available version of this show (the
second set only) is
plagued with a background static that can’t be removed. This version is
a combination of
three sources and is, at this time, the best available error-free
version of this show.
This concert was taped and filmed for eventual release by Elvis so a
better version of this
show may surface one day. Some sort of dispute with the Philharmonic’s
union prevented its
release. Elvis has spoken about this concert in interviews and has
basically said he could
not afford to pay all the musicians. To date, only "I’m Your Toy" has
been commercially
released.

I just want to make a comment on this latest version: I tried to erase the annoying static pops that were all over the CD I received in a trade.

I noticed that these pops were mainly in the right channel. So I replaced them with the content from the left channel. Since each pop is about 30 milliseconds long, that makes quite a few 30 milliseconds long mono spots scattered over the stereo recording.

I also made some cut and paste to get rid of the silent second about 1 minute into "Just A Memory". It's not perfect and can probably be done better!

There are still some electric noise at places, like at the beginning of "Good Year For The Roses". I haven't tried to do anything about them.

To me, this sounds a lot better than my original CD. You have to decide for yourself. If you like it, keep it! And hopefully there will be an official release in the future!
