Love those crimson trousers. I had cords like that, but not as late as '79. The circus shot is perfect - you're the focs in the centre, as rapt with attention as can be, oblivious to those around you, a sea of people stretching beyond. Hard to imagine a picture that captures the excitement of being a kid better.

Yes, the crimson cords. I remember them well! :D

I think I'm wearing some kind of plaid pattern trousers in the other. Straight from Sears, I imagine.

Welcome! Didn't know there was an Okie style of drumming/rocking out, but it looks impressive. Nice blue kit. I play the drums too, and am rehearsing for a gig in June - first in 3 years! I'm coming up to the age Elvis sang about a few years ago (easily old enough to be your dad by the look of it), and took it as a compliment the other day when my drumming style was compared to Animal from the Muppets! Life in the old dog yet, etc.

I think there's a special Okie way of doing everything. Something in the water around here. Good luck with the gig! If your drumming style has been compared to Animal, then you must be a fantastic(and animated) drummer!

Or just a mad one! We were doing a cover of Blondie's 'Dreaming', which is completely over the top and hard to play in anything other than an Animal fashion.

We need to jam Otis. Think of the literary allusions we could litter our songs with!

John Foyle in rare nudey shot! Great photo with that big piece of rock. Great place, will be visiting that part of the world some time in the next few months again, and it's been too long.

It looks lovely there, John. I suppose we'll never really know what's under the water, will we? ;-)

This could well be cheesey but they are my niece and nephew and I am so proud of their musical prowess as they advance our familiy's musical abilities into a new generation. I would note that they perform without the aid of a musical score- both are able to sight read and then perform solely from memory, something all in the family are able to do. My niece was performing in a Concerto competition at the New England Conservatory for Music playing Mozart's Piano Concerto #20- unfortunately she did not win. Judging by her performance, and her uncle's considerable bias, the winners had to have been exceptional. She also did the vocal arrangement for the a cappella MJ medley. My other niece, Shaye, is seen performing in Tokyo recently with some Jazz musicians there in a pickup gig as she was visiting her grandmother with her mother back in October. Hope you notice the beautiful stride piano technique. Should you view and listen- trust you enjoy:

Sonnet 2

When forty winters shall besiege thy brow
And dig deep trenches in thy beauty's field,
Thy youth's proud livery, so gazed on now,
Will be a tottered weed of small worth held.
Then, being asked where all thy beauty lies,
Where all the treasure of thy lusty days;
To say within thine own deep-sunken eyes,
Were an all-eating shame, and thriftless praise.
How much more praise deserved thy beauty's use,
If thou couldst answer, "This fair child of mine
Shall sum my count, and make my old excuse,"
Proving his beauty by succession thine.
This were to be new made when thou art old,
And see thy blood warm when thou feel'st it cold.

William Shakespeare

When I think of my wife and our over 29 years of being together I can offer no better salute to her enduring beauty than to note that it continues within the faces of our three daughters. That does provide the 'warm' that will continue to give pleasure when she 'feel'st it cold'.

It was a day like today, just about perfect over 35 years ago- outside in the yard of Herman Melville's home, Arrowhead, in Pittsfield, MA., with my younger brother, Thor. A good memory.
