Pictures With Famous People

Post by spooky girlfriend »

Pictures of yourself or pictures you took with someone famous -

This week, Billy Dee Williams came to my children's school. He is in Huntsville right now filming a new movie. He addressed the students and handed out some awards at our school assembly. Here he is giving an award for the Math Team to my son, Jordan (the little blonde guy).

Also, here is a pic of Oily's mother and sister with Felix Cavaliere of Young Rascals fame after a recent show:

she is married to a guy the size of an oldsmobile. mom is 75, but single; that might be a safer deal for you.

they were in louisianna at a festival and felix was swell to them. especially after they told him i sat on my floor for hours and hours in 65 and 66 listening to my "the young rascals" and "collections" records over and over. and they were groovey on sullivan with their matching get ups. thanks spooky.
I'm not concerned about the very poor.

Oh well, perhaps Mood Swung will be kind enough to snap a few with Ms. Gillian Welch to put up in this thread as a consolation.

And by that last post, I meant to say that I lust after Gillian Welch with reckless abandon. Just wanted to make that clear.

I'll certainly try, El Vez. But I'm not much of a photographer. I think Gillian looks strangely like Judy Garland.
Like me, the "g" is silent.

Regarding the first picture:

Why is a thinly disguised John Kerry lurking in the background?

And I feel sorry for that poor kid who is obviously daydreaming about Tater Tots (no offense spooky, I only just now read your preface, he looks like a cute kid).

Three very pissed people backstage at a John Martyn gig in Hammersmith. I'm at the back, my wife's in the front standing next to some old mod who drifted into the picture

Friend of yours? Was the gig good? Did he play all of Solid Air?

Actually he's a really nice bloke . He could of played the 'arrogant pop star' card but he chose not to. The John Martyn gig was great what i remember of it it's just a bit hard to understand him nowadays.

.................and with Chris Difford. Not overly friendly, by any means. Maybe he's just shy.

Nice pics. :)

It was nice. And a great concert!

Glenn has been very sweet both times I have met him.

Chris has a very "please get away from me, strange woman!" look on his face.

Glenn has always been one of the nicest guys in music. He's so humble and down to earth for one so talented.

As for you Valerie.......Chris may not have been very friendly, but I'd happily be your friend any day...yes indeedy

Down, boy. We'll have to put you back in your doggy house.

Don't mind him, Val. :) He gets this way sometimes.

Well, Jackson, it's always nice to make new friends

Just to add, the rest of the guys in the band were very nice to everyone. Good to see John Bentley back in Squeeze.

haha..for some reason i really like this pic
“And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance I could have missed the pain
But I'd of had to miss the dance”

Here's me 'n Elaine Cassidy in Malta in '01. She 'n her sister were staying in my hotel and kindly included me in their tourist stuff, driving me around Gozo etc. It's great to see Elaine starring in the new tv series Harpers Island and to hear the news about her 'n her husband expecting a baby.

Ok, let's do this in chronological order....

1. Keith Urban, 2001, at the CMAA Awards in Tamworth (I've dropped the Texas Oil Millionaire look since then)
Image

2. Jim Lauderdale, 2008, at CMC Rocks the Snowys in Thredbo, NSW.
Image

3. Guy Pratt, 2009, at the Factory Theatre in Sydney.
Image

4. Tommy Emmanuel, 2009, at the Sydney City Recital Hall.
Image

5. EC, 2009, at the Enmore Theatre, Sydney. (Not really the best photo of either of us. My moustache was at an unfortunate length at the time and he hadn't quite adjusted to his new sveltness yet).
Image

6. John Mayer, 2010, Newcastle Entertainment Centre. (The other guy is Tim Causbrook, bass player from Sydney instrumental altrock group Panzer Queen)
Image

7. Richard Thompson, 2010, Royal Festival Hall (Christ, that guy has a big head. I guess fame does that to some people).
Image

8. Jim Lauderdale, 2010, London (forget the name of his hotel. We ran into each other as I was walking back from Hyde Park).
Image

9. Simon Mayo, 2010, BBC Radio FiveLive Studios.
Image

10. Jim Lauderdale, 2010, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (backstage after the gig. Meant to do a Take 2 on that EC pic, but never got around to it).
Image

11. Jim Lauderdale and Jerry Douglas, 2010, Liverpool (somewhere near the Beatles museum).
