Greetings to the Board!

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Greetings to the Board!

Post by Poppet »

update.

still love you guys though i NEVER get here anymore. finished paralegal training, did NOT get the promotion, do still have a job though, go me.

i talk with solikecandy just about every day.

spooky!!! HUGS darling! jeez, i can barely believe i've made it to 44. wow.

haven't been to a decent show in a while. will be attending Boston's fan-run sci-fi con, Arisia. have developed a small obsession with New Dr. Who. still geek girl.

in the past year i've been on a date (omg), sold the condo, and moved.

i'll try to check back for replies -- might be slow at that. work is NUTS.

y'all take care, yeah?

OMG! Well color me surprised! Poppet, back from the poster's grave!

44 already sucks less than 43, so I'm okay with it. :-)

Don't stay away too long!

I finally found so like candy on Facebook and saw that she is happy and getting married. Ya'll all keep in touch, okay? I know we all have our own lives and tragedies, trust me - I know, but post occasionally. I mean, if it weren't for Facebook, I wouldn't know that Cope is happily dating someone and is playing Slash in a GnR cover band.

Hi there Poppet. Yeah, come back and post more! good to know you're out there and well and nearly as old as me!

Could you let slc know I feel guilty as I never sent the CDs of the EC show she was at years ago to her as promised! They're sitting here in a box waiting for the day. I imagine her address has changed (and I lost it, probably). If she still wants them, here I am!!! It was a good show. Ta.

i've promised people here things and totally mucked up sending them. sigh. good intentions and all that.

spooky g sent me cookies once. now that's a fab thing to get in the mail. homemade cookies!!!

time to write the contracts. i'm the only one who knows how here. job security is a good thing.

Ah, Poppet!! SLC!!! Good to know she's settling down. I haven't even been on LJ for God knows how long so have no idea what you're up to - apart from writing contracts, that is! :)

Hey lady, welcome back! It's been too long!

bobster: another lost soul. I think he left right around the time I started watching Buffy, too. Sigh.

Hi Poppet

Welcome back. In my real life employment law gets busier and busier so I haven't been around much either and I don't go in for the MyFace stuff.

I'm glad to see I didn't make the lost souls list

well, if you didn't make the lost souls list, maybe you've been forgotten? no! not possible.

last i heard from bobster he was all over his own blog with movie reviews and other hollywood insider bits. that was QUITE a while ago however.

see now, Dr. Who is the drug of choice. i got no clue about the new guy, will wait to see before i make any judgements (ok, other than dear god his hair is emo, and he looks like he could slice things with his angular facial features) -- he's young, one year is a long time for ability to change your look.

not much going on over here. well, there is, but it's BORING. new supervisor who while familiar with the company does NOT know the actual work, so he's learning. need to consider if i job hunt or not -- i do have this shiny new paralegal certificate, and the shine will come off it quickly i expect.

local fan-run sci-fi convention next weekend, yes geek-girl poppet will be there.

see? boring. still, i'm not an unhappy person. it could be MUCH worse. and has been in years gone by. i know when i've got it good. i'd like it a little better, and am working on that.

I quite like the relative unknownness of the new Dr. he seemed quite good in Ruby in the Smoke, though it wasn't a main part.

What about music, though?

music, hmmmm.

i've been listening to trip-hop on pandora.com. it's good for work -- boppy enough to keep me awake, yet chill. other times i gravitate to power pop. something energetic, because contracts would otherwise put me to sleep.

one of the best things i've heard lately is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UxCj2MO02AE - Life on Mars by the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain.

seriously. gobsmacked.

a local fav, Freezepop, was interviewed on NPR recently. i haven't heard the interview yet though.

a friend made the hat that is being worn here: http://www.jagjaguwar.com/.

(that's bon iver, which i haven't heard. i just know my friend LOVES the band, and made the hat for him.)

So that's 'Life On Mars', with first 'My Way' on top, then 'For Once In My Life', then 'Born Free', then 'Substitute' added to 'Born Free'. Sadly they didn't do this when I saw them a few years back, but they were fun.

Love Bon Iver. check him out! Nice hat too.
