If you could bring a dead rock star back to life

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

If you could bring a dead rock star back to life

Post by Spiritinthesky »

If you could bring a dead rock star back to life for one gig, who would it be?

John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Elvis, Kurt Cobain, Buddy Holly, Freddie Mercury? Or someone else?

This Day in Music are carrying out a world-wide survey to see which dead rock stars people would want to see again - for one night only!

Who would you pick? You can see a full list and vote on

Jimi Hendrix would be something - but I think if I had to pick one it'd be Nick Drake, actually.

Ian Curtis. How might he look now? Would he still do The Dance aged 52, or would he just stand still?

Lowell George or Miles Davis. And yes, Miles was a rock star, and his influence on rock musicians was more pronounced than most realize.

Thought about it . . . nope, I was pretty much tired of all the ones that are dead.

Notable exceptions are SRV, Buddy, Roy Orbison, MAYBE John Lennon, but you have to wonder what a nut he would be by now.

Can't believe no one has mentioned these guys: Mick Jagger or Keif. I would like to see them brought back from the grave to rock.

Roy Orbison. One of the greatest voices ever.
His last album King Of Hearts was a gem.

Probably Strummer or Nick Drake.

Dean Martin was a great call. A real hero of mine. However, not sure I'd class him as a rock star, even though he was definitely very rock n roll!
