Squeeze reunion tour, reissues

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

I had the opportunity to see Squeeze Friday night. The show was incredible and Glenn Tilbrook never ceases to amaze. :D

So for some reason I chose today to start running around youtube looking at Elvis stuff, and some comment spammer keeps posting about a Squeeze reunion tour this summer.

So, I decide to look it up as I love Squeeze. I find that tonight they are playing at the Grove in Anaheim, which is about five miles from where I'm living these days. Only it's 8:58 which means they're probably about to go on stage and I probably couldn't get in anyway, and the seats wouldn't exactly be great and tickets probably quite expensive. It's like I've been teased by fate -- if I had done it two weeks from now I'd just shrug This is what I get for no longer hanging out here obsessively.

Otherwise, things are good! Hope the tour is successful enough they come back sometime. Grr.

Nice to see you back bobster.

I'm sure there'll be other tours if this is successful. I also hope they're going to write songs together again.

Sulkygirl1 - my understanding was the band was to be comprised of Chris Difford, Glenn Tilbrook and Glenn's band, The Fluffers. Is that right?

For the most part! Simon Hanson and Stephen Large from The Fluffers handled drums and keyboards and they were joined by John Bentley, who was the Squeeze bassist on Argybargy, East Side Story and Sweets From A Stranger.

My wife is out in San Diego on business and when my sister drove down from LA to have dinner with her on Saturday they ran into Chris Difford in the lobby of the hotel.

I take it she didn't drive her car through the hotel and literally run into him...

I've never met Chris but Glenn is a great down to earth guy. Did your sister speak to him?

No, but if anyone could do that, it would be her.

Yep, she went up and chatted to him a little bit. The usual fawning fan stuff. When I spoke to her last night she was on her way to the Greek Theater in LA to see if she could score some last-minute tickets to their gig there. I'll have to find out if she was successful.

I bought Argybargy on iTunes, and I love it! Separate Beds and I'm a Go Go are phenomenal.
Loving this board since before When I Was Cruel.

Argybargy is my favorite Squeeze album. I know people rip "sweets From a Stranger" but I like it myself. "Elephant Ride" in particular. And it has "Black Coffee in Bed". Good enough for me!
Now you want to talk about bad Squeeze..."Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti". Shockingly terrible.

Love Argy Bargy - Vicky Verky is fave track = a fine example of a "soap opera" song. Such poignant lyrics and the tune really rattles along.
And Cosi Fan Tutti Frutti does include Last timer Forever and By your side which are great songs so its at least on a par with Sweets from a stranger!

Anyone know if there are plans to do the re-issues here in the States?

I spotted a deluxe edition reissue of East Side Story in my favourite local shop, but consider it was $40 I'm guessing it was probably an import.
