Belated RIP for Bryan Harvey of House of Freaks, and Family

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Belated RIP for Bryan Harvey of House of Freaks, and Family

Post by bobster »

I just heard found out about this a couple of days back and it really tore me up and, if you were lucky enough to know House of Freaks music this might affect you too.

He and his family, including two young daughters, were apparently murdered by some ex-convicts on a killing spree on New Year's Day of this year. As far as I know, this never got mentioned on this board.

Anyhow, I have a lengthy blog entry about it, talking mostly about the band and not much about the murders. If you want to know the details, they're easily googled, but I don't feel like posting the links.

Here's what I wrote:

That's a great tribute bobster. HoF were a terrific band. I mentioned the murders a few months ago on here, but can't find the thread now. I remember my brother taking me to see them at a little club in Hollywood years and years ago and being blown away by the sound they could get from just a guitar and drums. Those two albums you mention are both excellent. I picked up the Rhino reissues last year and would encourage anybody looking for good, bluesy, gutsy music with some brains and heart to do the same.

What a terrible tragedy.
