Saw this guy on the Secret Policeman's Ball 2006 on the telly the other day and he cracked me up. I love the song, of course, and of there's one thing I'd watch as an alternative to gorgeous Natalie performing it, here it is, except on the SPB (sadly not up on YouTube - yet - nor on Channel 4 site) he performed it like this, and then half way through Natalie emerged, radiant and stunning as ever. She performed alongside him, impervious to his antics, but then the coup de grace was she actually joined in his mime actions, perfectly segued as if it was just part of her stage show. It was hilarious, truly.

Had never seen that before. I love the way he reads the pools column '1h' for West ham's result! God there's so much on YouTube. If you look at the other Fall there, there's two different live 1981 Totally Wired's, which has to be my fave Fall song. Both very good sound wise and not at all bad visually. he looks v young. some good ad-libbing 'You don't have to be strange to be strangled' etc. no sign of the pissed non-interview he gave on Newnight on the advent of John Peel's death, though. How come?

God I could spend hours just on the New Order stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CAheJNF1 ... ed&search=

Ceremony from Finsbury Park June '02. See if you can spot me in the crowd. Great day out. I know this is out commercially, and I do believe I taped it off the telly too, but it would take me 24 hours to find that. God bless YouTube.

Trying to find some live Joy div I don't have on the 2 DVD Here Are The Young Men / Substance collection. Can't. Have I got everything?

No here is a gem from among the Curtis stuff:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgZ4icuR ... ed&search=

Durutti Column from a Helsinki festival in '81 playing the Curtis-inspired Missing Boy. That's a lot of sound for two people. Guitar quite distorted. Such a great riff, this is a good demo of why Vini is simply a genius. He can't sing a note, but who cares. The original of this, on LC, is just fantastic. YouTube is simply incredible. Someone's had this gem in a vault for 25 years, and now we can share it. Beuatiful. 7.43 and it still isn't over.

And this is afootage of a live (over recorded drum track, it says) performance from the shoot of Control (the Corbijn Joy Div movie). Sam Riley sounds remarkably similar to Curtis, and though this is very fuzzy, moves a lot like him. They sound pretty convincing. Impressed.

Great fun. He's a loon, isn't he? And great to see that Hold On video. One of my favourite Waits songs.

I agree Ot. He is a loon, but one of my favorites. Notice the wobble-kneed stance in some of the frames? Look familiar? And the rockabilly reminds me a little of Lux Interior, another favorite.
Love this video.

Shame you can't see it with Natalie, funnier still!

Great So Like Candy clip. had never heard of G E Smith (only M E Smith!), but read he fronted the SNL band for years. They sound very good, and very at home on the song. Did it ever sound as good live with the Rude 5, etc?

G.E. Smith lead Dylans backing band for many years during the early days of the NeverEnding tour.
The band I saw backing EC in Auckland during the beard years was smoking hot, though I dont actually recall them doing Candy. I DO remember the closing "Poor Napolean/Instant Karm" was awe inspiring.
