Pray for me!
I am less than a week from graduating with a bachelor's in English literature. It's taken me 7 years to earn it, and I've worked full time almost the entire time. I've managed to do it all on my own (with the help from fabulous friends and family). I haven't been on the board in a while, and that's why--school is kicking my everloving ass. I can't wait to come back to you guys!

Congratulations to someone who really EARNED their degree. And who may have actually gotten to page 60 of "Dahlgren"....

You spoil me, y'all do.
Funny you should mention Samuel Delany, Bobster--I presented a paper on him and James Baldwin a few weeks ago at a symposium. I haven't tackled "Dhalgren" yet, but I'll finish it if it's the last thing I do. I've read "Trouble on Triton" and "Aye, and Gomorrah", but I've heard "Dhalgren" is...eh...challenging. Wish me luck, bruh.

Well, SLC, it doesn't exactly make me a psychic since you posted about it!

El Vez, the board can always count on you for an oblique sense of humour, but I must say that this post made my day. You have a dark gift, sir.

I just turned in my very last undergrad assignment EVER. Oh, happiness!
I am indeed walking in the ceremony: after working for this damn degree for so long, damn SKIPPY I'm participating in the ceremony! My boyfriend and a very good friend of mine are also graduating, and the plan is to see which of us can drink the most and get through the ceremony the next morning without falling asleep or hurling.
My parents are having an open house next weekend in my hometown--this weekend is for various faculty and student end of the semester and graduation parties. Starting tomorrow night, I will be hungover for the next two weeks.
Thanks for your congrats--it means a lot. I've been SO tired lately...reading everyone's comments (especially ElVez--I am totally writing "BMF" on my cap in puffy paint) makes me smile.
