Well see, I dont know who "The Feeling" are, or what they sound like, but it's a fucking terrible name for a band, almost as bad as "The Mountain Goats".

Well the name "Grizzly Bear" brings to mind the image of a large majestic beast of the wild, roaring in the snowy woods, snatching salmon from the cool clear river with its huge clawed paws, able to rip a man to shreds and actually fits the sound of the band, who have a vast, outdoor, organic, echo/reverb soaked sound.

The name "The Mountain Goats" brings to mind, well .... a goat.

I actually agree with you about Grizzly Bear. Pretty interesting sound - hard to put my finger on who they might be compared to, which I suppose is a good thing.

World Party recently re-released "Dumbing Up" with new tracks and a DVD enclosed. It was released with little publicity a few years ago, but Karl Wallinger suffered an aneurysm shortly after it's release. Thankfully, he's recovered and is just finishing up a tour to support the re-release. He's absolutely one of my favorite artists.

I don't think he strayed too far from his musical style, so from that
standpoint, it's all pretty good. It took a while to grow on me though, now I enjoy it much more. It's sprinkled with some great tunes. Wish I saw him live but couldn't make the time.

Wow that's good. They're still selling it for Â£25 in HMV and Fopp. I got it free. Shipped from Sweden, ordered via Amazon US marketplace, came with sslightly crushed box. I asked for a replacement or a refund and they went for the latter and told me to keep it! Fair enough. I have to confess to not havng explored it enough, but am in a bit of a dylan phase again right now, so will be spending some time with it. Love all the memorabilia, but it can make it unwieldy to browse through.

Sparklehorse's It's A Wonderful Life. I'd been meaning to check this out for some time, and finally got around to it. Really beautiful album, though about as bleak as they come. Reminds me a bit of Eels' Electro-Shock Blues, but with more studio effects, distortion and a bit slower-paced. Eels crossed with Low, perhaps? In any case, great dark music appropriate for the colder weather coming on now.

I'm not so sure any more - I've just noticed a disclaimer, hidden away inside, "All removable documents and memorabilia are reproductions of original items and are not original themselves". A record store that used to be one of my favourites before they started jacking up their pricing has been having a "Closing Sale" for the past month, but the deals weren't so great at first.

Now that the desperation is setting in, good deals are starting to come about. I managed to score the Ryan Adams & The Cardinals' Cold Roses brand new and sealed for $5 CDN (about $4.47 USD/Â£2.35 GBP) and the Lucinda Williams Fillmore 2CD set brand new and sealed for $6 CDN!!!

Not especially helpful now, but I got the Lucina Williams 2CD for Â£2.99 delivered in the HMV.co.uk sale the other day. It appears to be back up now.
