So Here It Is, Merry Christmas Everybody

So Here It Is, Merry Christmas Everybody

Postby verbal gymnastics » Thu Dec 23, 2004 5:24 am

I just wanted to get soppy and wish everybody compliments of the season and to wish everybody a happy new year.

It's been a great year on the board. I've gotten to meet some great people, am corresponding with new friends I've met here, met Elvis again and managed to make one board member cry (although that was with happiness I'm pleased to say). All hail the power of the interweb.

I hope to meet more of you next year.

Peace love and understanding to you all.

A Very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year to everybody here !!

I'm really happy to be a part of this board. So good to know there are more EC addicts out there, and they're wise, intelligent and good people too. :D

All the Best !!!

merry christmas, everyone. I can't remember shedding any tears, except maybe some of frustration, but you all have made me laugh almost every single day and that to me is priceless. I'll try to talk less and listen more next year.

Once again, merry Xmas too, including my fellows of Hebraic extraction (remember, it's really a pagan holiday mixed in with a character created by Thomas Nast and Coca Cola anyway...and eat Chinese food!).

Here's to all of us who will be spending those family dinners keeping our opinions to ourselves while Uncle Rick goes on and on about Bill O'Reilly telling it like it is.

Happy Holidays to one and all! :D

Wishing each and every one a very merry xmas, and while we sit around the table with our loved ones lets all spare a thought for those who are not so fortunate

Haha, you even got his name right. That was incredible.

Uncle Ricky and Aunt Debbie are STRONGLY religious and support Bush mainly because of that. I am fearing a confrontation. =\

Raising a toast to all my Board pals: you're lovely folks and helped me through an exceedingly difficult year. A very Merry Christmas, if you celebrate it; a joyous and peaceful 2005 to you all.

I have so much to be thankful for this year, despite the fact that my life seems so busy and complicated at times.

And I am again happy to have shared another year here with all of you. Silly as it may sound, I believe there are some of the best people in the world right here on this board.

Merry Christmas!

Happy Holidays to everyone.

Here's a poem I enjoy about the holiday season:
Roses are red
Violets are blue-ish
If it wasn't for Christmas
We'd all be Jewish

May next year be better than this one.
It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think that you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt

12 inches of snow can kill a person!

Postby A rope leash » Sat Dec 25, 2004 9:04 pm

All this dreaming of a white Christmas has turned out to be a nightmare!

I can't wait till next week, when we will have 12 inches of mud instead of 12 inches of snow!

Either way, I'm stuck!

I hope everyone got what they wanted this year... I did!

(NO CHRISTMAS!)

Peace on Earth, dammit!

I mean it this time!

Wow, you got Bill O'Reilly's name exactly right too. That was awesome!

I know it's hard for you to cope with people who have different political opinions. It must be the case that they are hopelessly benighted and you are wise.

Happy Holidays to all my friends!

I had recently lost the board, but thanks to the Super Spookys, I have found my way back.

Tomorrow I am off to Indiana and their 2 feet of snow. Safety to all who are traveling over the holidays, and Happy New Year!
Now I'm the invisible man, and you can't see me.

Legman, here's one for ya.

Gun Street Girl, Tom Waits (1985)

Falling James in the Tahoe mud
Stick around to tell us all the tale
Well he fell in love with a Gun Street girl
And now he's dancing in the Birmingham jail
Dancing in the Birmingham jail

He took a hundred dollars off a slaughterhouse Joe
Brought a brand new Michigan twenty-gauge
He got all liquored up on that road house corn
Blew a hole in the hood of a yellow Corvette
A hole in the hood of a yellow Corvette

He bought a second-hand Nova from a Cuban Chinese
And dyed his hair in the bathroom of a Texaco
With a pawnshop radio, quarter past four
He left for Waukegan at the slamming of the door
Left for Waukegan at the slamming of the door

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

He's sitting in a sycamore in St. John's wood
Soaking day-old bread in kerosene
Well he was blue as a robin's egg and brown as a hog
He's staying out of circulation 'til the dogs get tired
Out of circulation 'til the dogs get tired

Shadow fixed the toilet with an old trombone
He never get up in the morning on a Saturday
Sitting by the Erie with a bull-whipped dog
Telling everyone he saw, "They went that-a-way, boys"
Telling everyone he saw, "They went that-a-way"

Now the rain's like gravel on an old tin roof
And the Burlington Northern pulling out of the world
Now a head full of bourbon and a dream in the straw
And a Gun Street girl was the cause of it all
A Gun Street girl was the cause of it all

Well he's riding in the shadow by the St. Joe ridge
Hearing the click-clack tapping of a blind man's cane
He was pulling into Baker on a New Year's Eve
One eye on a pistol and the other on the door
One eye on a pistol and the other on the door

Miss Charlotte took her satchel down to King Fish Row
Smuggled in a brand new pair of alligator shoes
With her fireman's raincoat and her long yellow hair
Well they tied her to a tree with a skinny millionaire
They tied her to a tree with a skinny millionaire

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

Banging on the table with an old tin cup
Sing I'll never kiss a Gun Street girl again
Never kiss a Gun Street girl again
I'll never kiss a Gun Street girl again

I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home
I said John, John, he's long gone
Gone to Indiana, ain't never coming home

Very best wishes to you as well, verbal. Just now recovering from too much food. I feel a bit like Mr. Creosote!

And these complicated toys - jeezus. My son got a miniature John Deere lawn tractor from my mother - just like the real thing, but it runs on a battery instead of gasoline. He wants to take it out in the front yard this morning and give it a spin. Watch out!
