Dallas Cowboys to release Quincy Carter

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

The NFL is life!

Yes cosmos, they are expected to start Vinny, and treat Drew Henson as the future.

I guess this Drew Henson character has a bright future. He was Tom Brady's back up at Michigan, and had 28-7 td/int ratio.

Cleveland Browns (born there) Tampa Bay Bucs (grew up there)... :D

Oh, and apparently the Quincy Carter release is due to a failed drug test that came back positive for cocaine.

I know, I know...NFL player failing a drug test, I'm as shocked as you.

The Vikings game will be very tough. Darren Woodson is out for that week, Quincy Carter isn't on the team, and Vinny Testaverde is a question-mark (as far as "talent" goes).

The NFL's #1 defense had better pull through! ROY WILLIAMS!

Ohhh yeah, that's true. Lets hope he isn't a bust (even if he did horrible, I don't think anybody could ever called Eddie George a bust).

Keyshawn > Moss? Now I KNOW you're joking.

The only receiver in history better than Moss up to this point is Jerry Rice, stats-wise.

Okay Okay, I give you the Moss victory.

But, I'd take Marvin Harrison or Torry Holt any day.

Moss is the best receiver in the league.

And Clinton Portis runs circles around Eddie George.

A lot of running backs run circles around Eddie George, but not against the number one defense in the league- Dallas.

Moss isn't as good, consistent, or reliable as Harrison, sorry.

Moss is a head case and a big pain in the ass but he is still by far the best reciever and with the exception of Ray Lewis probably the best athlete and the best player.

I don't know anything about american football, but I do have a Baltimore Ravens mug (simply because of the corvid thing...I know, it's sad) are they any good? They got to the semi-finals of the superbowl this year (I saw them lose to a wundergoal) and won it a few years back right...but how good are they in league standings, and who are their best players?

laughingcrow, the Raven had the best Running Back in the league... but the worst Quarterback and Receiving situation. They're lackluster, with a defense who used to be dominant.

Dallas is the team on the rise.

Quincy Carter was released for positive tests of cocaine and marijuana in his system. That might not be national news yet, but here in Dallas, that's the skinny. And if it's verified, then he got what he deserves. The Cowboys had enough of that type of scandal with Michael Irvin and Leon Lett. They don't need more.

I root for the Ravens, but only because I was born and raised in Baltimore. I swore off football when the Colts snuck away in the middle of the night to Indianapolis, and I never really recovered. There ougt to be a constitutional amendment banning the changing of names when teams move. There are no lakes in LA, and there's no jazz in Utah. New city, new name.

I read that about Carter. But, let the guy play. I don't care if you find him in the dressing room with crack on his nose- he has too much potential to cut him.

Miss BA,

Yes. I started to write "banning the practice of moving to a different city and keeping the name" then went back to edit the sentence ina different direction--and just confused the whole thing.

So, what I mean is that there ought to be a constitutional amendment prohibiting an owner from moving his team to another city and taking the name with him.

Thanks for catching that.

WHAR,

Um, letting a guy play who's coked up is unfair to those who play without the drugs. It's also unsafe to Cater, his teammates, the other team, fans in the stands, etc. And it sends a horrible message to fans. "He plays ball well, so we let him break laws." The Cowboys--for once--are doing the right thing. If he has so much potential, and if the game means anything to him, he'll go into rehab, get off drugs and play. If not, it's his fault. Consequesnces.
