What are you listening to right now?

This is for all non-EC or peripheral-EC topics. We all know how much we love talking about 'The Man' but sometimes we have other interests.

Stunning.
This morning you've got time for a hot, home-cooked breakfast! Delicious and piping hot in only 3 microwave minutes.

Agreed. I like her other stuff, but this is the first album she has made that truly lives up to the hype. A wonderful record.

I've listened to it a few times now and I'm a little disappointed. Love Are You Alright?, love all 9 minutes of Wrap My Head Around That, but Learning How To freaking LIVE?

And where is Jailhouse Tears?

So far I think "Fancy Funeral" is my favourite.

Frank Zappa "FZ OZ" - Live in Sydney, Australia circa 1975
You don't have to like him or his music, but you have to admire this incredibly prolific musician that inspired so many, spawned incredible bands and genre's, was a brilliantly talented guitarist, and had a sense of humour lost on many. He was absolutely intolerant to drug use by anyone in his band. If they failed to respect that rule, they were out.

And he never slept. He couldn't have slept. He was too busy building a catalog that is unmatched in the industry.

Killer band. The guitarist on the right is John McFee (played on My Aim Is True (that's his solo on Alison)
and the Almost Blue album, for any new (or old) posters who didn't know). Next to him is his sit down metal
slide guitar thing. When I saw them last year they only had two drummers..! And thankfully no Michael
McDonald was required, and they played almost entirely the better 70's 'classic era' Doobie Brothers material.

I had to check the URL via quote as it's just showing a ?, but you're referring to the Doobie Brothers, it appears.

Should be able to see it now.

It would've taken someone with a very hard heart who couldn't enjoy the Doobies show. Their 35 or so years of the core players' experience playing together (and 25+ for some of the others) provided a magic you don't encounter every day.

Not at all....honest.

You'd like her. I would describer her as a bit like Bjork without the drawback of the bleeding ears  . Her versions of 'Crazy Love' and 'I Hope that I don't fall in love with you' are ipod regulars at our place. I got into her after hearing a track ('Today has been ok') on one of the earliest Word freebie CDs. You probably have that CD Otis.

Days Of Speed - Paul Weller

For any fans of The Style Council who have not heard this CD, it's worth it for the beautifully stripped version of Down In The Seine.

I knew I recognised that name from somewhere. Will now have to locate the CD!

Days of Speed generally good. Bit too long, but good otherwise!
