Wow you weren't kidding. Look man, I was just joking. I couldn't think of anything to be remembered by, so I put the tuna bit down. Please don't let me be remembered as the one responcible for bringing back the recipie thread like some wacko Martha Stewart or something !!!!!

then on the other hand, the casarole doesn't sound all that bad

While we're waiting for tuna, here's my favorite chili recipe:

Cook one pound of BACON til crisp, crumble and put in a stock pot

In a skillet, sautee one ONION, chopped, two cloves of GARLIC, chopped (don't be afraid to add a dash or two of celery salt and pepper)

Add one pound GROUND BEEF or SIRLOIN TIPS (if your fancy- or don't add any meat) and brown. Add the meat, onions, and garlic to the bacon

Deglaze the pan with one AMBER BEER and add to the stock pot

Add three cans of BEANS in their juices (pinto, great northern, black, whatever) and 32 ozs. of DICED TOMATOS with juice to the stock pot.

Add generous amounts of CHILI POWDER, CUMIN, and CAYENNE to taste

Pour one or two more AMBER BEERS on top

Bring to a boil, then let simmer for an hour or so. I like to add a shot of BBQ sauce and a little maple syrup for extra yum.

Enjoy with cheese, sour cream or more AMBER BEERS

pophead, it was sounding delish until I got to the BBQ sauce and maple syrup part! But it's way better than tuna casserole anyday! Every time I think of tuna casserole, I see Cindy C's creepy grandma bringing in her "tuna" surprise to dinner. Cats loved her.

Oily- those last two are strictly optional! The beer, however, is not- enjoy!

I know you're not the same person. I've met you both at the same time. I said maybe someone else got you confused.

Did you stay up too late last night, Oily? It's not good for someone your age, you know.

OK, OK, for an overlong explanation.......I had read Moody's message to me and then read several other threads. The last post I had read had been from Oily, and then I went back to reply to MS. I value everyone's individuality immensely and hope one day to meet everyone (a la Spooky) so that it can never happen again.

Humbly,

I think the chili recipe was worth a little gender confusion. I do love chili.

I found this on the back of a can of soup, and it's pretty darn tasty at the end of the working day.

1 can(10 3/4 oz) tomato soup, 1 can condensed beef broth, 1/2 cup red wine or water (I drink the wine and use water), 2 lb. stew beef, 1 can (14 1/2 oz) diced italian style tomatoes, 3 large carrots cut into 1" pieces, 1 tsp italian seasoning, 1/2 tsp garlic powder (which works out to 3 tbsp when my husband prepares this), 2 cans white kidney beans

dump everthing except the beans into the crock pot, cook on low 8-9 hours (or high 4-5 hrs). add beans and cook 10 min. serves 8.

a loaf of bread, a glass of wine and this=not necessarily restaurant, but definitely better than McDonald's.

mood, recipes like this might get me cooking again.

i've pretty much stopped cooking. i eat takeout, or stuff outta boxes that are 'open and eat-able', or microwave something from trader joe's.

i've morphed into the quintessential bachelor(ette).

i have a friend who makes something similar to your recipe - he calls it 'bachelor chow'.

keep 'em coming folks. :)

Here's one I like in the evenings:

A bottle of wine
a wine bottle opener
an empty wine glass

Open the bottle and pour. Liberally. Replenish when empty.

Spooky, I have a similar one:

- tortilla chips
- spicy chipotle salsa
- good fresh beer like an IPA

Consume each in combination. If one runs out, replenish. Continue until all three run out at the same time; this is fate's way of saying you are full and drunk.

Spooky, sometimes, just for a little something extra, I like to leave out the glass...
