Sleepless nights

Post by Jackson Monk »

A Cough - a poem about about a cough by Jackson Monk (aged 38 and a half)

Oh rasping wicked cough
thou hast kept me awake enough
how i do yearn to make this worm turn
and spit you from my weary throat
lord you do get on my goat

At 3am the house rocks
As I search the bowels of the medicine box
amongst the analeeze and rusty Andrews lids
I find a sticky strepsil and some Venos for kids

Watching a b-movie on telly
in my underpants and barest beer belly
Wondering when this hacking will stop
please before my eyeballs pop

back up to bed for another try
My throat red raw my mouth so dry
it seems more settled but when head hits pillow
my larynx tickle and my tonsils bellow

oh please fuck right off
you bastard cough :x :x

Poor Doofster! :( Hilarious to read however!

You need some lemon and honey, and some good narcotics.

Hope you feel better!

Seriously, you need some drugs-- that's awful, Doof. I send throat-calming thoughts...

Nice poem. I too have been laid low with a throat infection and could hardly swallow at the start of last week. Went to the doc though and a few doses of penicillin soon got me on the mend.

JACKSON: My sympathies...I have a dry irritating sore throat that's keeping me awake too. Why oh why must God make us Spurs supporters suffer so (I see we did it again today - NOT!!!) ????

the artist must suffer for his art.

but, seriously, try bourbon, honey and lemon--warm it up just a little. won't get rid of the cough, but if you drink enough, you really won't care.

Thank you all for your words of condolence and remedy.

I am feeling a little better having swigged a bucket and a half of Benilyn. I'm still breaking into the odd uncontrolable fit, but its becoming rarer. Sure taken it out of me though - feel totally bushed! :(

My best to you sir as you battle the bug. I hope you are feeling better now. Wish you could have been in Memphis - I'm certain it would have made you feel better! I actually had been ill most of the day of the show - nausea, headaches, but it temporarily left me when he came out on the stage. Didn't get much sleep that night, so that didn't help, but I suffered.

I hope you are on your way to recovery dear!

Alas, the lurgy has become increasingly virulent and I am now on antibiotics  Worse still, little Olivia has now contracted something similar and I'm waiting for someone to nail the door shut and paint a large red cross on the front door  .

Being self-employed, I am starting to see the value of sickness insurance!

Unclean! Unclean!

Hope you feel better soon mate.

I fear your internet access will be increased whilst your work will not...

...but on the bright side at least you get out of doing the house work as there is a fear of dust around the house!

Hope Olivia's better now too.

I'm not sure I should post this or not, but I guess it's better to be prepared.
