(fragment for thought)

Post by wehitandrun »

The vocal melody for this owes a lot to "Miracle Man" and "Radio Soul"

"(fragment for thought)"
. copyright kevin scampoli 2004

(sequence the first)
He hastily stamps his letter shut with the candle wax of depression.
"If he could, he would sing it. But, he sounds like an imitation..."
Immaturity reserved for immaturity.
"... on second thought, you're a joke."
Like a bad taste in my mouth, I'll brush you away with my tool to fix musical hygeine.

It's all in the hook.
'Cause when you hook 'em, then you got 'em, now all you gotta do it fuck 'em, it's all in the hook.

(sequence the third)
When left home alone, he locks all of his doors, and he snorts until he hears rainbows.
After searching his entire life for a punch line, he's accepted the universe is endless.

(sequence the second)
Upon hearing the doorbell he jumps in a seismic fright.
After signing for the letter that he sent himself, he contemplated his station in life.
Immaturity reserved for immaturity, and without the benefit of hindsight.
Like a bad taste in my mouth, I'll brush you away with my tool to fix musical hygeine.

It's all in the hook.
'Cause when you hook 'em, then you got 'em, now all you gotta do it fuck 'em, it's all in the hook.

but if your aim in writing this is to communicate something, then you want people to 'get it', right? I'm getting a certain amount of angst and paranoia out of it, but I'm a little more MOR than 'boo.

True, I do want certain people to get it, but you are not one of them.

I'll assume that was directed at me. Fair enough! This is one of the few times when not getting it utterly delights me.

WHAR, I sincerely found it confusing, but, yeah, sometimes it helps when the author gives a bit of further insight. So what's your side of it then?

JM, as I told WHAR, it'd be good if he expounded for everyone but given that it's called Fragment For Thought I guess anything goes.

It's very early-90s San Diego punk. And by that I mean it's utterly confusing, but intriguing.

I love confusingly acoustic San Diego punk... with chords, and recorded/written on the East Coast.

But, whatever you say.

Bedroom demos will do that to you.

Listened to the cuts. Not trying to be rude, but are they supposed to be off key? Seriously, if that's what you're going for, then that's fine. I mean if they're supposed to be sort of random bits of guitar with off key warbling, then well done. But if not. Erm...

It's supposed to be demos cut from a bedroom. Take it however you want.

I think they're dead catchy. I've been humming all of them for days. They're like a cross between PIL and The Associates.

It's all in the hook baby.

yes, but is it supposed to be off key demos cut from a bedroom? i genuinely want to know if you meant to sing atonally or not. there's no discernable melody and then the occassional warble. i like abstract stuff when it's well done so i thought i might see if that's what you were going for. either way i don't think i'd be so quick to criticize other singers if i were you.
