Knuckles

I hit the wall a while back, literally.
My tight fist into the plaster.
The wall being as it was,
I left an impression.
Oval, like a face.
In the dark it looks at me
Like you did once.

Tonight I hit that place again,
More purposefully.
I wonder if you felt it,
Maybe an annoying itch on your cheek
As the familiar pain shot up my arm.

It looks a bit different now,
A face but less affecting.
Less sad to see in the dark,
But no one I know.

In my dreams my heart throbs
And hurts with each beat.
Your heart, they always say,
Is just the size of your fist.

I like this a lot. Great analogy and very starkly emotional.

And your foot is a slight bit smaller than your mouth...

I prove it on a daily basis.

This is really very good. The flashes of shape, emotion, the spiritual and physical mixed and blended. Impressive stuff. I'm always being reminded of things-'The Oval Portrait' from Poe an the inanimate taking on life. Yours in a more suspended reality. Pain spreading through every sense and level. Well stated.
