Yeah BA, I jumped the gun, I thought(wrongly, I might add) that I wouldn't be able to secure a copy, because these types of releases are usually limited and in high demand. Now I know for next time. Anyway, your recording is great and already sitting in my hard drive. Thanks BA

Dismssing the instrumental snippets, of the four proper songs only Cincos seems to have deleted some of EC's vocals in favor of Black Thought, I think.

OOF. I don't mind paying 10 bucks for this, but anything above that is rough.

I got my preordered CD from Vintage Vinyl (NJ) in the mail today. I like all the full length reworks, especially Tripwire and Walk Us Uptown. This is the first I've heard of Antibalas. They seem like an interesting band.

And they are playing the New Year's Eve show at SOB's in NYC which will probably be a great party!

I can't get excited about this.

Even the actual album doesn't get played by me anymore. Struggled through about 5 or 6 spins. Behind the sparkling production lies some of the laziest songwriting in Costello's career.

hey, we know Prince is prone to bitchy streaks! only kidding...love the guy since 1980 and have EVERY record (released on vinyl and cd, at least...too much internet/fan club releases for ME to afford!) and Ymaginatif is okay in my book too. i bet the official LP will STILL grow on you down the road. it is great.

Well, I have since returned to albums like Blood And Chocolate, Spike, Get Happy, and enjoyed them so much more! When the albums were filled to the brim with melody, clever arrangements etc. etc.
Back in the day when Elvis Costello was still striving to make superior pop music.

This album is merely a novelty album. Doesn't add anything new. It's a vignette of other people's style. The Elvis Costello input is old and tired.

I love grooves and funk music + Tripwire is a beautiful little song. To put it in a culinary way: whereas EC used to put three bars of chocolate in an album, it seems he now crumbled some chocolate powder into somebody else's coffee ...

It might grow on me ... you never know. But I'm missing some sort of forward momentum in EC's writing style for the last decade and a half ... (you catch me on a grumpy day  )

I agree.

Having paid my money many times for many versions, I also choose to return for re-replaying (especially via LP12 vinyl) to EC alba up until mid-90s last millennium.

Having played my SE Wise Up twice/the latest remix thang once, it's the old stuff we 3 in my house enjoy.

We have played the re-mixes 700000 times, but the original SE CD only twice.

I just nailed a copy for $8.99 -- 10 minutes from my house.
I hadn't even thought to look at any local stores.

Here's a store locator from the Costello website:

I picked up one of these the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Trying to memorize the words to Cinco Minutos Con Vos. I also want to sing it in French and Italian. He asked me at Storrs whether I wanted him to sing it in French. Hell yes!

I like this version of Tripwire just as much as the one on WUG. Great stuff. This is a remix album I can get behind.

Went Christmas shopping at my local indy record store. They had several copies on CD and a few vinyl. Picked up a CD for about $8.

I absolutely LOVE Wise Up Ghost. Thus, I was thinking I would dig the remixes. However, Wise Up Thought, unfortunately, seems like something only for the completist. Nothing that really grabs me even though I am a big fan of the source material. Even less essential than "Cruel Smile," which I actually like quite a bit.

Does anyone know why this has not been released in the UK?

Probably because , as Elvis once said, the masses in the UK have him 'in a box marked 1978'.
