What was the announcement?
That doesn't surprise me, since it was clearly posted prematurely.

There actually wasn't a lot of new information. It included the line (quoted by Doc above) about test pressings distributed on Record Store Day. It said La Marisoul appears on the album as guest vocalist on the song "Cinco Minutos Con Vos."

A couple other tidbits mentioned in the deleted post include the album title ("Wake Up Ghost") and the release date ("early autumn").

All of this - this thread and the tweets - is confusing. When/where is the new music? Need it to soothe my soul.

What we know so far of the new album:

Title: Wise Up Ghost
What: collaborative album with The Roots ("And now we have the tightest 12-14 song collection out of about 20 songs that we made", according to Questlove)
Releasedate: early autumn (september) 2013, but according to some reports, a small number of test pressings were distributed as white labels on Record Store Day on the 20th of April.
Producers: Steve Mandel, EC and Questlove
Guest vocal: La Marisoul, lead singer of the Los Angeles group, La Santa Cecilia on “Cinco Minutos Con Vos”.
Recordlabel: Blue Note Records
Since you put me down, it seems i've been very gloomy. You may laugh but pretty girls look right through me.

are the bits and pieces on twitter bits of old or new lyrics? they seem so, maybe?!?!? quotations I don't know? anybody recognize these

Down into the Silver
Above me the blue
And you stood there waiting but you never knew.

And down, I went down like the twist of screw
Down into the Silver
Above me the blue
And you stood there waiting but you never knew...

The propeller was droning I woke up alone
They opened the door and they threw me through...

The face of the clock seemed to merrily mock
These five minutes with you

And a glittering voice
Far off there said, “Rejoice”
“As the casualties are but few”

"The face of the clock seemed to merrily mock / These five minutes with you" is presumably from "Cinco Minutos Con Vos" (Spanish for "five minutes with you").

Who has one?
Is it possible these were just stuffed into the Roots "Things Fall Apart"?

There's this Twitter exchange between producer Steven Mandel and EC, from a couple days ago:
‏@ImposterSpeaks
You know what they say? "Patience" is an opera by Gilbert and Sullivan.

@StevenMandel
@ImposterSpeaks And Impatience is a sample.
I may be grasping at straws here, but could it be that they've sampled the "North"-era track "Impatience" for a song in "Wise Up Ghost"?

Since it's been pointed out that the domain “WiseUpGhost.com” and a few variations on that name has been registered by Elvis Costello in advance of the forthcoming album, a WHOIS search reveals that EC owns 11 other domains, but only lists the first and last letters.

The first one, registered in 1999, is obviously “ElvisCostello.com” and the last few seem to be the variations on “Wise-Up-Ghost.com.”
Any guesses as to the others?

What fun! I love the humble Reading address detail for 'steve@elviscostello.co.uk'. In the spirit of the bonkers internet detective work above, I followed it up further, and check out what happens if you do a google image search on the postcode:

http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=s ... Ao#imgrc=_

Curious, eh?

Yes, it´s because the pics lead to "legal" page where is the same address http://www.elviscostello.com/legal

Btw it seems the house was sold in 2007 http://www.192.com/prices/details/9ec99 ... 041692/lr/

Sorry for off-topic, I just love doing "google detective work", such fun! :D 8)

No mention of EC/Roots in this profile of Don Was, head of Blue Note, alleged home the 'Wake Up Ghost' album

http://articles.philly.com/2013-05-16/n ... lfred-lion

- interesting conclusion -

' The Blue Note strategy in the digital age is to "play small ball," the label honcho says, meaning to sell modest numbers of albums by many artists. "Everything doesn't have to be a home run. We're going to 100,000 our way to prosperity. . . . Our A&R philosophy is, if you play it, and it makes you feel something, that's good music. A good business plan is to make a great record." '

Great to read that, because that is absolutely the approach labels should have been taking all along.

That has always been Blue Note's approach from day one with Alfred Lion-witness this good documentary:

Imposter's twitter the last few days seems to have been talking about delays to the official announcement....maybe it's nearly upon us

Perhaps Elvis is even now doing interviews that will air/be published later.
