Sadly not able to make the journey to Ireland, so someone else will have to take on the role this week.

There is some "discussion" of the show to be found here:

http://www.peoplesrepublicofcork.com/fo ... 748&page=2

Nothing approaching a setlist (other than one from a revolver show last week), but a few comments, from which the highlights appear to be:

"He was fantastic."

"He was great. His voice was the best I've heard it in a long time.

The sound was absolutely shite in the tent though. Usually it improves as the gig goes on but not this time.

The all seated idea took a lot of the atmosphere out of the gig too"

class evening,.. the weather was sublime…

"I thought the sound improved a lot as the gig went on.. his voice was a little muffled at the start. But why do they make these events seated??? We were bouncing in our seats - but when Olivers Army came on, the crowd headed for the stage. He event made a hint for people to get up and dance. The crowd were lovin it. Piano guy was amazing. He has come hard core fans - have to say I won the tickets but i really enjoy the gig. He was loving it as much as his fans. He really loves what he does and is great at it. I knew a lot more songs than I realised. But note to AKON - Don't make these events all seated. Leave the floor to those who wanna dance. Though I imagine that there were a lot of seated folk at the front who were not impressed when the ambush occurred."

"The version of Watching the Detectives that he played last night was the highlight of the set for me."

"does anybody know what the long song played before watching the detectives was? a lot of lyrics, slow enough. great number but i dont know it. was it man out of time?

amazing gig

except for those girls with torches. they should be at home on Facebook not 'officiating' at gigs"

So now you know what the people of Cork (or those of them who post to that bulletin board anyway) thought of the show. I will post a request for a setlist, but my hope's aren't high. Based on the comments above, there is a risk I might get back:

"A fast one;
another fast one;
that Radio one;
a slower one;
the slow one about that girl;
a long one with a lot of lyrics;
The one from that film;
etc"

The long one with a lot of lyrics is the best thing he's ever done.

Apologies to all, had a long day Weds and seem to have been asleep or travelling since. (Old Age)

I am no good with a pen when at a desk so at a gig you have no chance.

But I did manage to get the following, not exactly as I remember it (Old Age Again) as someone (possible me) jumped and shouted 3 Sons and he obliged.

I have loads of pics of the venue before, during Etc.

I shall attempt later to put some words about the gig and pics.

But for now:
