Interesting comment on this video that I put on YouTube:

"I worked on this at Thames TV and have a top quality (ie straight from mixed to 1/4" tape) copy of the rehearsal versions of Hoover Factory and Watching the Detectives.... so even rarer than the broadcast version!"

This is actually Sunday Sunday itv from 1982, not the original broadcast, why would it show Elvis Costello 1977 at one point and Elvis and Mavis Nicholson walking along a street in 1982 and album covers up to Trust.....?

Being Mavis Nicholson : TV's Greatest Interviewer

Elizabeth Taylor, Helen Mirren, David Bowie and Margaret Thatcher are just some of the names who queued up to be interviewed by Mavis Nicholson, recently named as the greatest TV interviewer of all time. This film explores how a middle-aged woman from Wales became Britain's first female chat show host. Including contributions from Maureen Lipman, Paul O'Grady, Elvis Costello, Judith Chalmers, Eamonn Holmes and Mavis herself, alongside many others.

'I was only 23 at the time ....any woman over 35 was Mrs Robinson!' - Elvis's follow up comment to his ' bit of a crush' one. Otherwise a reverential portrait of a past master of a , in my opinion, defunct format. Loads of whinging about how crap modern tv is , how Mavis did it better. The usual smug comments about how she knew Jimmy Saville was a bad lad etc.

Screen grabs made while watching the show on app on my 'phone.
