Elvis UK Tour 2013

Post by Man out of Time »

In an interview with BBC Radio Oxford prior to his Cornbury Festival appearance with The Imposters, Elvis announced that he will be touring the UK again next year (2013) and that dates will be announced next week.

This is consistent with the most recent announcement from the box office at the Anvil Theatre in Basingstoke, where we was due to play last month.

No word on whether this will be a tour with the Imposters, or solo, or something else. My money would be on a return with The Imposters, since this format is working well at the moment, but it may depend on the availability of Davey, Pete and Steve.

Watch this space and the "Dance Card" page at Elvis Costello.com ....

Thanks MOOT. Having seen Elvis twice with the Imposters now, I've realised that some of my favourite parts of the show are when the band goes off for a break and Elvis plays solo. I'd quite like to see him do some solo performances or maybe just lengthen the time he performs alone, as sometimes the noise of the band is over amplified and drowns out Elvis' voice.

It's good news that he's happy to keep touring - he's on amazing form right now.

I hope Elvis sorts out his voice for a UK tour next year. Either he's pushing himself too hard or normal service will resume shortly.

History repeats the old conceits...

I hope the folk of Basingstoke (and their guests  ) aren't cheated out of seeing the songbook.

It'll probably something we're not expecting!

Still nothing at Elviscostello.com dance card or on the venue website.

I did find this comment on the Anvil page on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/AnvilArts

Someone asks whether the rescheduled date will be a Revolver show and gets this reply from Anvil Arts on 29 June:

"Yes it will be the Revolver tour which has a spinning wheel in it."

:D

Excellent.

I can't think they'll only bring out the songbook for one show...

I've only just noticed - 2 separate nights at Birmingham Symphony Hall 8)

And fortunately for Mrs VG, our 10th wedding anniversary falls on the Manchester Apollo date, which I wouldn't go to for logistical reasons. Thanks Elv!

Mrs Sulky hasn't been told that this means we're now buying a caravan currently under 3 feet of water in Ottery St. Mary when we sell our house in Brum and using to equity from the sale for 16 tickets !!! It's going to be a nightmare trying to swing this one - but I'll try. I may have to ask for a sofa or two from assorted forum members !! Perhaps that nice Mr Cameron will offer me MARS !!

I've every confidence in your powers of persuasion...

Not sure who this "nice" Mr Cameron is though...

My suggestion that the Liverpool / Manchester / Sheffield shows has myself and Mrs Balcony sorted for each other's next birthday, Christmas and Easter gifts has been greeted with a comment which I took to indicate that our couch would not available for you since I would be using it!

Going through the penny jar as we speak.

Any more knowledgable people than me here know which of these dates are standing venues - despite advancing years I still like to mosh it down the front.
