As you can't lift heavy boxes, perhaps I could try and encourage you to smuggle in a recording device and then you wouldn't miss out on performances like Tempted from Brighton last year although to judge by your jigging around in the RAH and Birmingham, no device has been invented yet that could survive your seismic dancing !

I logged into Ticketmaster this morning to check the status of my tickets for Southend and Brighton. What is strange is that they have put me on the platinum package for both with the signed lithograph, National Ransack EP etc. I definitely didn't book this but I've printed it out just in case it gets changed! Perhaps I've been upgraded.

Just in case anyone's still hungry for another show I've 2 standing tickets for Southend going which I now can't use. Let me know, I'd hate them to go to waste.

I've got front row stalls seats for the Edinburgh gig.
Could I get away with snapping a few pix with an SLR and standard lens without being put on the naughty step?

It's interesting that the opening salvo for the last 2 nights has only been 3 songs. Unless of course whoever is writing the setlist on the website is getting it wrong and we know that sort of thing doesn't happen...

With Elvis and The Imposters racking up an astonishing number of songs on this tour, the EC performance index on the wiki makes for interesting reading.. listing debut and last performances of all songs.

http://www.elviscostello.info/wiki/inde ... ance_Index

By my reckoning up until tonight's show in Edinburgh, these are the only album tracks that Elvis is yet to play on The Songbook tours since 2011 (although some have been played in a different live context.) Dates show last performance. The list doesn't include any of the bonus disc tracks and other releases, of which there are a few. Would it be fair to say that some of these could be presumed retired, buried or forgotten.. ?

Magnificent piece of work sir!

Mouth Almighty has been on the wheel but not picked, as has Just about glad.

Also Crimes of Paris needs to be in a separate Blood & Chocolate heading but that's a minor quibble.

yeah just noticed that VG  just lookin at what's left that's do able....

Chewing Gum and Stalin Malone by The Roots..???

Juliet Letters best done with a string quartet., similarly the Toussaint songs with Allen. Remaining covers from Almost Blue, Kojak Variety ? There’s lots of other more preferable covers to choose from.

I’d be happy to hear any of these old tracks resurrected, especially these.

1 Goon Squad
2 Chemistry Class
3 B Movie
4 You’ll Never Be A Man
5 The Loved Ones
6 Love Went Mad
7 Home Truth (was lucky enough to see last performance in Porto 2004)
8 Worthless Thing
9 Our Little Angel
10Jack of All Parades
11 Crimes of Paris
12 Satellite
13 Georgie & Her Rival
14 Kinder Murder
15 All The Rage
16 Just About Glad

I bet The Roots would do a stormin' version of "Love Wen't Mad" with their stonkin' horn section. The high keyboard parts could be played by brass and Bruce Thomas bass part sounds like it would work well on tuba or trombone.

Funny that they never played it back in the day. Either Elv must have disowned it, or they tried and it didn't work.

I can feel the post tour blues kicking in already, as for me Basingstoke was the final concert of this tour. I will console myself with the fact that his appearance at Glasto will be televised, so that's something to look forward to.

I hope that EC will tour again next year, and for my part I'd really love it if he toured solo, with just a guitar and maybe a keyboard player in the background, because sometimes the band is a bit loud for me and drowns out EC's vocals a bit. His voice is gorgeous and I want to hear every word he sings. Maybe if he visits this forum he'll see my request, who knows? Nothing wrong with asking. :)

I hope he enjoys Glasto this time around and gets the appreciation that he deserves.

Firstly much respect to "The Imposter" for the analysis. Now, of course, in the last week, we can tick off a few from this list:

Kinder Murder in Southend, and All The Rage and Just About Glad in Brighton. Perhaps Elvis is working his way up from the bottom of the list?

I should also mention that I saw the one and only performance of "Satellite" at the London Palladium in 1989, one of the "Month of Sundays" shows and "Our Little Angel" last year in Eindhoven. Elvis does seem to be revisiting some of the dustier corners of his back catalogue as part of his current tour, so who knows what else will be played.
