Are you going to both RAH dates, VG?

I think so!

I have tickets for Wednesday. I bought 2 tickets for sulky and myself yesterday from www.double8tickets.com for Thursday which has arena floor tickets for £30. I told the others last night about it. The tickets were sent by special delivery and arrived today. I'll collect them tomorrow as there wasn't anybody home when they arrived.

It looks like the wonderful Mrs VG is going to allow me to go. 8)

Sorry still gonna pass on R.A.H. but currently considering Bournemouth, although I have said I would never go to the B.I.C might remain content with Baisingstoke a smaller R.F.H type venue.

I understood that after the Glasgow show. I am so looking forward to Hamburg in June!

Review at The Latest by Andrew Kay:

"Coming in at minutes off three hours it is hardly surprising that at times this gig was indulgent, self indulgent perhaps. There were certainly moments where my attention passed, some pretty heinous guitar solos and an awful lot of mad business with members of the audience and the spinning wheel of songs. That said I loved it, and the reason why is clear. Costello is an inspired performer, poet, pop songwriter and guitarist. But it is the voice that is at the heart of his work, and what a voice. Often strange, occasionally struggling to find the note, but it has a plaintive human quality that is irresistible. With every song you get a sense that he is giving up a little of his soul and with that he also proves that he is also one of the greatest vocal interpreters of other writers’ work. He performs with a three piece band that owes more to punk than the over-produced bands of today that rely on technology, backing tracks and serious lighting hardware to hold an audience. This was rock and roll, soul, blues, pop and the fine art of delivering a song with heart. He sings ‘Ship Building’ with heartfelt pathos and ‘She’ with real passion and on top thrashes out nearly every hit. For that I forgive the clutter of the format, the odd solos and rejoice in a talent that seems as vibrant today as it did back in 1977."

Members of "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll" - The Rolling Stones Fan Club, discuss Elvis' recent appearances on his UK tour, starting with the Brighton Centre show.

http://www.iorr.org/talk/read.php?1,1611262,1611849

Towards the end of the thread, discussion turns to the relative merits of different Underground rail systems. Interesting to compare the level of discussion on a different music based bulletin board/forum. Stones fans seem to like Elvis.

I really enjoyed reading the IORR discussion.

You forget that people go onto other fan boards. I went onto the Paul Weller one the other night and saw the familiar name of bronxapostle staring back at me.

A set of ten photos on Flickr, which seem to have some connection to the venue:

http://flic.kr/s/aHsjzpRPu1

The photographer may be called David Illman. This set is tagged "pub rock" and "punk rock", which shows a certain lack of imagination, I feel. "Brighton Rock" would have been more apt...
