Postponement Announcement

It is with regret and sorrow that Elvis Costello announces that he must delay the start of the next leg of "The Spectacular Spinning Songbook Tour" until the 24th of September in Atlanta. This is due to matters pertaining to the very serious illness of a close family member. All shows prior to the 24th will be postponed.

A spokesman for the tour stressed that Mr. Costello's wife and children were in excellent health but declined to elaborate further hoping that people would understand the desire and need for calm and privacy at this difficult time.

Ticket holders for the shows from September 15th through September 22nd should contact the venue box office or ticket broker for further details. It is hoped that all of these dates will be rescheduled as early as possible in 2012.

Gutted. Have tickets and travel plans for 4 of those shows. Mobile, Clearwater, Hollywood and Orlando. But can't fault anyone for something like this. Horrible news all around. All good thoughts and best wishes to the ill family member. Get better soon!

I saw Ross at the Festival Hall I think it was last year, he looked very frail. But then again he is in his 80's. Could be his mum I think she is still alive.

Anyway my thoughts and prayers are with you Elvis if you read this.

Looks like Durham will be the tail end of the canceled shows. No worries waiting a few months to see the show though. Hoping for the best for EC and family.

Well it looks like Mobile might not get rescheduled for a year. Got this reply from the Saenger Theatre when I asked about holding the ticket for a reschedule or just getting a refund:
"PLEASE GET A REFUND! - This show may not be rescheduled due to unforseen future scheduling conflicts. The earliest this show can be rebooked is a year away. Get a refund and we all hope we welcome Elvis with a full house....I'm sure he appreciates our understanding."

It's inevitable that one's thoughts turn to Elvis' parents as the most likely to be ill, but of course it could be anyone. Whoever it is, thoughts and prayers go out to Elvis and his family at what sounds like a very difficult time.

"The Revolver Tour" will resume this Saturday at Chastain Park, Atlanta before proceeding to the Ryman Auditorium, Nashville and the Murat Theatre, Indianapolis and beyond.

Thanks go to our friends in Alabama and Florida for their understanding over the urgent need for the postponement of shows and look forward to seeing them as soon as possible in 2012.

It is hoped that the recent and continuing concerns over serious family illness will allow the completion of the remaining dates.

Mr. Costello and his family would also like to send thanks to those who expressed their good wishes and prayers.

Napoleon Dynamite will do his best to see that you have a Spectacular Spinning Songbook time...

thanks ANCT...i did find it a little disconcerting that we had not been in the know. sure hope all goes well and that the remaining dates get completed and still allow Elvis a little family time in between to be with those he holds dear. naturally, FAMILY FIRST...so if need be, i wouldn't be upset if there ARE further postponements. because it sure looks like a "LOCK" now that the spinning songbook will keep on spinning in 2012! prayers to the EC family. xoxoxox
