The age gap

Post by laughingcrow »

Just wondering...since at every EC concert I go to, I seem to be one of the youngest...at the ripe ol' age of 22...how many of us are old farts and how many are wet behind the ears? Plaything you're a spritely youngster like me yeah, but who else is?

(Ladies need not leave their age, just tell us either how many teeth you have or how many rings there are in your trunk)

Interesting you should worry about being a young Elvis fan- my girlfriend and I are together because a mutual friend knew we were both into Elvis and introduced us. She's 22, I'm 36 (don't worry, I'm not THAT guy....no gold chains, red sports cars, etc., also have never dated anyone significantly younger than me). Although we haven't seen the man yet in concert together, I'm sure we will soon.

I'll be 25 in exactly 14 days. I guess I'm still young, right?

We seem to break down into two rather discrete age groups.

Me, I'm in my third year of being 39. (Props to Jack Benny)

We're leaving for Vegas tomorrow morning for the big celebration. Anyone from the board who might be in Sin City this Weekend is invited to dinner (12 in the party so far) at Gardunos 8:00 pm Saturday - (the Gardunos at the Fiesta Hotel & Casino).

Let me put it this way Laughingcrow.....I was 15 in 1978 when EC came out with his first record.
(Wow, that makes me sound older than if I just would have said I was 40!)
A very young 40, I might add. People are pretty surprised when they find out that I have a 19 yr old.

The past 3 or 4 EC shows I've been to (within the past year) my husband and I were noticing how many old geezers there were in the audience. Mostly men....men w/grey hair and ponytails, men w/men, men alone, men filling up the front rows closest to the stage. There seemed to be alot of younger men there alone. It was very curious and quite noticable.
I don't really know what to make of that.....it's just an observation. It made me think what does Elvis think when he looks out into the crowd and sees it's clearly male dominated? I guess I imagine it to be more women than men who would attend shows like that (or plays or musicals, etc.)

????
I'm not angry anymore....
