There are now only 186 songs registered at ASCAP, in stead of 654 a few weeks ago.
The remaining songs are mostly post "Secret, Profane and Sugarcane" (including the unreleased musical songs).

The ASCAP songs are now divided between Costello & MacManus so you now need 2 searches instead of one.

I tried that, but ASCAP doesn't seem to know "our" MacManus ?!

It should work if you search for "Mac-Manus".

Google translate says -

'Goodbye Paris (Star Wars)' .

Something for the next film in that franchise?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens on Dec. 17th 2017

For those with the vaguest of interest in the "Star Wars Saga" , I can confirm that the last forum meetup at the Roundhouse gig in London did indeed provide more than a passing resemblance to the "Cantina Scene" in SW4 A New Hope, featuring Verbal as Hans Solo !

No way - they never have songs in the Star Wars films. How cool would it be, though! Bond film is never gonna happen unless someone else sings it. Emily Sande expressed an interest recently.

Suzanne on Facebook comments -

Not a correct translation. I believe "guerres" is the French word for "war." It is "Envy the Stars."

So on ASCAP Elvis receives a credit for "Christ Conscious" by Joey Bada$$

The Credit is here: https://www.ascap.com/repertory#ace/sea ... /888295430

You can listen to the song here:

*NB NSFW*

So clearly there is an Elvis song sampled here, presumably something from Wise Up Ghost, but which track?

The trumpet is sampled from Chet Baker's version of "Almost Blue."

The ASCAP site has had a big update with nine(!) EC songs added:

DISHONOR THE STARS
THE FINAL MRS CURTAIN
I LET THE SUN GO DOWN
IF YOU LOVE ME
ISABELLE IN TEARS
MR & MRS HUSH
SUSPECT MY TEARS
UNDER LIME
WHY WON'T HEAVEN HELP ME?

With so many songs added at the same time, these might be songs intended for the new album.

"I Let The Sun Go Down," "Isabelle In Tears," and "Under Lime" have been performed live by EC in the last few years, so it's no surprise to see them registered with ASCAP.

"Suspect My Tears" is an older song, first played in 1999 and briefly revived in 2004, but it was not registered with ASCAP until now. I love this song and hope it's finally been recorded properly.

"If You Love Me" is co-written by Johnny Cash. EC recently set "I'll Still Love You," a Cash poem published in the book Johnny Cash: Forever Words, to music. "If You Love Me" is another lyric or poem (it reads like a lyric to me) in the same book.

"Dishonor The Stars," "The Final Mrs. Curtain," "Mr & Mrs Hush," and "Why Won't Heaven Help Me?" are new to me.

Bingo!

Separately, ASCAP lists Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus as one of four writers on a song called "Do You Think You're Movin' On" which has been recorded by The Basement.

Details of the song on Discogs.com, including a link to a promo video are here.

I cannot hear any samples or trace of any other EC song in this one, nor any connection between Elvis and the other authors of the song - Graeme Hassall, Mark McCausland and John Mullin. The song dates from 2004. Can anyone account for EC appearing as a writer in the credits for this song?

MOOT

PS If you watch the promo video right to the end, you will notice grafitti on the caravan reading "Elddis has left the building".

This article says the Basement's drummer is named Declan McManus, so he's probably the actual co-writer.

Is this tweet about the new song Hetty O’hara Confidential? To be released on July 10?
