I liked the show last night. EC certainly seemed to be enjoying the whole April Fool's multiappearance thing and being back with the Imposters

Highlights for me were quiet a few of the standards (hope you're happy, new lace, beyod belief, Pump, PL&U, etc) as well as Candy and newer things -- especially The Spell that You Cast and Stella.

It did feel like the first show in awhile. Expect the flow get even better as they move the songs around a bit

EC talking about coming back to the Beacon with the wheel and go-go cage sounded like he's looking forward to it, I know I am!

That reminds me, Doc, you had hoped to video some of the show. I see you posted Pump It Up to YouTube, is there any more?

No. Unfortunately my video experience last night wasn't much better than my audio experience. The audio problem was my fault, but security did bust me once, after which I just put the damn thing in my shirt pocket and kept taping. It was only when I got home at 2 am did I realize that my levels were way too high and the vocals were distorted beyond repair.

I took out my camcorder for the encores, but only got about 5 minutes into it when the same security guy told me to put the camcorder away. Without a monopod, it's pretty shaky video. Plus it didn't sync right on YouTube so I took it down and will reupload it later today. The pictures above are screen captures from that video.

I will get this right by the time the Beacon shows come around, I swear!

looking at the pictures here, I think they should have given Pete a hat and the same glasses too! For sake of completion.

Anyone else delighted by the return of "Luxembourg?" I get the sense that it's not very well regarded by many fans, but I've always had a soft spot for it and hope it finds a spot on the Spinning Songbook.

I approached Elvis’s performance at Gramercy Theatre with more unknown than any show I have seen in quite some time. While this was the first performance with The Imposters in nearly a year, it wasn’t like this was going to be a one off show. I didn’t expect a greatest hits show, nor a speed through the set list (as the casino wanted everyone back to the slots and tables) as last years Cesaers show and most of the casino shows, seem to be.

Once again, the man didn’t disappoint. While the mix of Elvis’s guitar seemed high, and Steve’s seemed low, in watching some of the video my wife shot (since posted on youtube and linked here) it wasn’t as bad as I heard.

Highlights –
- No Alison and Everyday I Write the Book (but my wife likes both of those two songs, being a casual fan)
- New Lace Sleeves, one of my live favorites from the ‘80’s
- So Like Candy, one of my all time faves.
- Beyond Belief & Clubland, even if the hand-off was not smooth, this can kind of be expected given the lack of shows with the imposters.
- Why Don’t You Love Me, with the Secret Sisters, truer to Hank Williams version. Would have liked to here more harmonizing with the girls.

Surprises
- Little Triggers
- Watching the Detectives. A seemingly very short version. Lost was the battle of Elvis’s Guitar army from last years shows.
- Possession
- Oliver’s Army. He doesn’t seem to play in the states anymore.
- Luxembourg. WOW never expected to here this. When was the last time he played this with either the Imposters or the Attractions. And did like the new mix. Elvis sang this sitting down, I guess similar to Eastern Asia shows he just did.

Low points (but not that low)
- Radio Radio and Chelsea, played again
- Pump it Up, but you know its coming, just ahead of Peace Love & Understanding to finish the show.
- Stella Hurt – Elvis’ guitar mix was too loud, ruining the fine rhythm of Pete and Davey (BA/Doc - hopefully this isn't the case on recording as you noted earlier).

I have always enjoyed the little 'oops" in that occur during the shows. So starting the wrong song prior to Beyond Belief; I got a chuckle from. Steve stepped away from the keyboard laughing. Pete singing to most songs, but seemed to be really wailing during ‘So Like Candy’. Davey’s glasses sliding almost off his nose while playing, escpecially the during six minuted long Stella Hurt (wearing glasses I can appreciate this). Elvis’s guitar tech almost getting backhanded slapped when he came out to fix something on Elvis’s guitar during “The Spell that you Cast”. Was also surprised how ragged Elvis’s voice was, but doing three shows in a night isn't as easy as it was 32 years ago.

Looking forward to the Beacon in May, and holding out hope he does AC in July. It will be the only way I can get my wife to three shows in four months.
Why are we racing to be so old?

Amen to that. If only he could change it up at the end as well re: Pump It Up and PLU...

March 11, 1981, but he played it solo in 1984.

I'm a very tough grader when it comes to audio. So I'm never happy. This was a show for the ages, IMO, so I was hoping for better results. My digital recording is unlistenable (I'm hoping for some magic to fix it, but none yet). Ba's is more than acceptable, so enjoy it tonight. I'll put some mp3's on MediaFire too.
