The Spell That You Cast is now more obviously downloadable from Elvis' website, espcially from the big button in the middle (replaced the 78 offer I think).

I Lost You has made on to BBC Radio 2's playlist for next week. It's a long time since Elvis received any kind of airplay over here.

Apologies if this has appeared elsewhere already, but a Notice on Elvis Costello.com says that a single version of "I lost you" will be released internationally on 18 October. Nothing about what format, or any other tracks. Could be download only, or CD or vinyl... Anyone any more information?

This from BBC Radio 2 Publicity machine:

"Great British Songbook is Radio 2's celebration of the work of British songwriters, with artists of today performing classic British songs. Dermot O'Leary's Saturday afternoon show will be bursting at the seams with the best of British this autumn, with interviews with Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart and Ray Davies."

I'll hold off on comments until it's in more general circulation......'cept , that intro. to Five Small Words.. wow! O.K. I'll shut up!

It seems that here in the UK at least Elvis might be going for the big promotion on this one. The first for many years. Certainly a while since one of his songs has made the playlist on the Radio. Although a quick check shows it is only getting played on the late night shows. Hopefully this will change as it gets nearer the release date and it gets played in the daytime.
Radio 2 could do with making National Ransom it's album of the week sometime soon. Got to be a better choice than Phil Collins Motown covers of the other week.

Chris Evans played I Lost You this morning - probably one of the most listened to programmes on British radio - my wife rang me in work to tell me!

Yep, I heard that! Great to hear Elvis on prime-slot radio again! "Elvis doesn't disappoint", said Evans, as the disc spun to a close.

Just listened to the whole album through following the lyrics as printed on Elvis' site and there are loads of differences. In 'Moon , for instance, 'Put Out the light' is printed but Elvis sings (much more effectively in the context) 'Chokes out the light' and so on. There are dozens of differences. In most cases it's hardly a case of someone just tidying up verbiage - subtle emphasises are lost etc.

With every listen this album gets more fascinating.

More later!

I think Letterman's almost a certainty. Isn't he one of the five most featured musical guests for that show? And he played it for SP&S.

It's been like that at least since Delivery Man (when the lyrics showed up online before the album came out). I should think he'd publish them the way he sang them, but what do I know?

That's a good sign if Chris is playing it. I think he is an Elvis fan. I hear that although Evans is a dj and music fan he doesn't own any records or CD's etc. Maybe not so unusual with the youth who download everything. But must be for men in their 40's
