A Chance To Show Your Appreciation For Mr John Foyle

Post by verbal gymnastics »

Hi all

So there I was having a little trawl through the Board when I saw this little nugget: http://www.mycharity.ie/event/john_foyles_event/ buried away in the EC solo in Singapore thread.

I don't think there is anybody on this Board who does not appreciate the wonderful and obscure Elvis postings made by John and this is a good chance to show our appreciation for him.

I'm sorry to hijack this John but this deserves a wider audience and I know you are too modest to publicise this somewhere prominent so I am doing it for you!

Cheers
VG

Thanks Verb.

I was going to bang on about this soon enough. Thing is, I'm going to France for a few days next week ( to see U2 in Nice - yippee!!) so I was going to hold of until after that. It would seem a bit odd if I started looking for money and then headed of to frolic in the south of France!

Any support that can be given will , of course , be most welcome.

More later.

This poster is going up in my shop to , hopefully, get more donations in the final two weeks before I go to Zambia.

Fund raising for my trip has gone very well. People's generosity in these tough times has been both astonishing and humbling. I'm especially touched by one donar who gave a contribution saying it was being done instead of giving Christmas presents.

Right now I'm in the happy position of having reached my individual target of €3,500.00. Other members of my group , 3rd level students etc., have not been so fortounate. To make up this shortfall I continue to try and raise some more.

We depart on Sept.2nd. It was meant to be Sept. 4/5 but the earlier departure means we save c.€900 in flight costs ie.more for building materials etc. It also means two extra days of me with no running water and electricity but I'm trying not to dwell on that!

You mean other than Elvis' sex-change operation and verbal growing a mustache? Or was it the other way around? :D

Glad to know you are back safe and sound, John. While you were away EC has released to albums, written a concerto, and a song cycle in Swedish.

Welcome back John and thanks for the photos.

And whilst the rumours about my sex change are true the moustache makes me look that little bit more feminine.

'john foyle trying to sing in Zambia'

Before someone else finds it....I blame the four rounds of tequila slammers. This, needless to say, happened on the last night of the trip.

Can anyone beat this record - it took me up to 24 seconds in before I realised John was singing "I Saw her Standing There ".
Now this is more of a butchers than the original rare Beatles sleeve !
